Hero Wars Team Building 2.0: Advancing Beyond the Basics

Greetings, Heroes of Dominion! Zeus is back with another video, and today we’re delving into the intricate art of spotting synergy between heroes and crafting a formidable team. If you missed my last year’s video on the Basics of Building a Team, I highly recommend checking it out as it provides a solid foundation for what we’re about to explore.

Let’s start with the fundamentals. A standard team composition typically consists of a Tank, a primary damage dealer, and three support heroes. The Tank’s role is crucial — they’re the frontline, tasked with holding the opponent’s team, buying time, and ensuring the protection of their teammates.

Now, let’s focus on the primary damage dealer. This hero is pivotal in eliminating opponents, but they can’t do it alone. To bolster their effectiveness, we need to provide support. This support begins with penetration, whether it be magic or armor penetration, depending on the type of damage your hero deals. Once penetration is addressed, the next step is enhancing the damage dealer’s attack power.

For physical attackers, this involves increasing attack power through elements like critical hit chance or a boost to physical attack. The final layer of support can take various forms: additional critical hit chance, more physical attack, or perhaps introducing a healing element to the mix. However, I personally lean towards avoiding healers in my offensive setups, resorting to them only when absolutely necessary.

Let’s delve deeper into the strategic intricacies of assembling teams, using Astrid and Lucas as our focal point. These two heroes often fly under the radar, but with the right companions, they can truly shine.

Our first challenge involves countering a lineup consisting of Dante, Sebastian, Amira, Nebula, and Thea. To nullify Dante’s attacks, we need evasion, making Aurora an ideal choice as our tank. In addressing the need for armor penetration, Tristan pairs exceptionally well with Aurora, forming a potent combination. The selection of heroes offering armor penetration can vary, so exploring artifacts and compiling a list is recommended. To amplify critical hits and introduce pure damage, we enlist the support of Sebastian, whose Battle Song and Striking Solo skills prove invaluable. Jet further complements this strategy by enhancing critical hit stats for the entire team with his Inordinate Fury ability.

Moving on to our next arena challenge, where Rufus, Dante, Iris, Polars, and Fafnir with Axel pet form a formidable team. Recognizing the need for control, we forgo a traditional tank and opt for Arachne. Arachne’s stun capabilities and Faceless’ ability to reposition opponents become pivotal in managing the battlefield. Astrid and Lucas continue to spearhead the offense, supported by Sebastian’s critical hit boosts. Fox joins the team to provide armor penetration, adding another layer to our strategic approach.

The third target on our list comprises Aurora, Krista, Sebastian, Lars, and Heidi. Crafting a team to counter this lineup requires thoughtful consideration. Corvus emerges as the ideal tank, countering Aurora and neutralizing Heidi’s threats with strategic skills. Isaac, with his Lil’ Tes’lin artifact, steps in as the armor penetration specialist, bringing both utility and efficiency. Lastly, Fafnir joins the ranks, contributing defensive prowess with Runic Shield and offensive capabilities through Runic Blade.

In each scenario, the selection of heroes revolves around a meticulous understanding of the opponents’ strengths and weaknesses, ensuring Astrid and Lucas lead a cohesive and effective team. Strategically adapting to different challenges is the hallmark of a true hero commander.

Let’s unravel the intricate synergy behind hero combinations, using K’arkh as our prime example. K’arkh’s skills, “Nexus of Horror” and “Deadly Tendrils,” illuminate a potent strategy. The former throws the three enemies with the lowest health into the air, while the latter ensures K’arkh deals double damage to those with a level equal to or less than 130 when they are airborne.

The quest for heroes capable of launching adversaries into the air leads us to two candidates: Faceless and Kai. However, K’arkh’s third skill introduces a condition—double damage is only inflicted on enemies of level 130 or lower. Enter Polaris, the counter to K’arkh’s potentially devastating third skill.

Let’s apply this knowledge to our team-building strategy. In our initial encounter against Rufus, Dante, Heidi, Iris, and Dorian, the chosen lineup aims for balance and synergy. Aurora, with her dodge-countering capabilities, takes the tank role. Elmir provides armor penetration, Kai synergizes with K’arkh’s airborne assault, and Sebastian lends crucial support to enhance K’arkh’s damage output.

Moving on to our second battle against Dante, Amira, Isaac, Sebastian, and Iris, a similar methodology is employed. Aurora reprises her role as the dodge-thwarting tank. K’arkh assumes the role of the primary damage dealer, with Tristan contributing armor penetration. Faceless reenters the fray, leveraging her synergy with K’arkh to ensure a harmonious and effective team dynamic.

In both scenarios, the chosen heroes strategically counter the strengths of the opposing team while capitalizing on K’arkh’s unique abilities. The essence lies in understanding hero skills, identifying synergies, and crafting a team that not only addresses threats but maximizes the potential of key abilities. This approach ensures a formidable force on the battlefield, ready to overcome diverse challenges.

Understanding and exploiting hero synergy is a pivotal aspect of mastering Hero Wars, and one compelling example lies in the dynamic pairing of Keira and Qing Mao. This synergy, as highlighted in the Keira Guide, centers around Qing Mao’s “Open Heart” skill, which relentlessly shreds 470 armor per hit from the enemy.

The brilliance of this combination becomes apparent when considering Keira’s “Piercing Pain” skill. Keira thrives on exploiting the vulnerabilities created by Qing Mao, as Piercing Pain deals extra damage when the enemy’s armor is lower than Keira’s armor penetration. The cooperative nature of these skills allows for devastating damage output and strategic advantage on the battlefield.

Spotting heroes’ synergy involves a keen analysis of their skills, particularly paying attention to the foundation of those skills—whether they are based on physical attack, magic attack, or health. For instance, if a skill is health-dependent, it can be scaled up in the foundry. On the other hand, physical attack-based skills, like Julius’ “Defense Meowtrix,” won’t naturally scale up with extra health. However, by introducing synergy, such as pairing Julius with Nebula and leveraging her “Equilibrium” skill with an additional 110,000 physical attack, the matrix capacity scales significantly.

In essence, building synergy is about supporting each hero’s unique skills, enhancing their effectiveness, and elevating their performance to new heights. While supporting heroes is fundamental, uncovering and capitalizing on synergies represents the next level in the intricate game of Hero Wars. Sharing these insights fosters a stronger community, ensuring that the strategic depth of the game is collectively explored and mastered. So, if you spot a synergy, don’t keep it to yourself—share it with fellow commanders and embark on the journey of strategic excellence together!
