Hero Wars Control Effects

Some heroes can inflict control effects that significantly alter the course of battle. When a hero is under one of these effects, they cannot perform certain actions, making strategy and timing key to success.

Stun

A stunned hero:
Cannot move
Cannot attack
How to apply Stun:
Deal damage exceeding 20% of an enemy's max health in a single hit
Use a skill that applies stun

Blind: A blinded hero:

Misses all physical damage, including basic attacks and abilities
Still deals magical and pure damage

Silence: A silenced hero:

Can use physical damage and physical-scaling skills
Cannot use: Non-damaging skills (e.g., K'arkh’s Nexus of Horror)
Magic damage skills
Pure damage skills
Magic-attack-scaling skills
💡 Example: Cornelius’ ultimate deals physical damage but scales with magic attack — so he can’t use it while silenced.

Slow

A slowed hero:

Attacks slower
Experiences increased cooldowns on abilities

Charm

A charmed hero:

Cannot attack
Cannot use skills
Can be freed if damaged by someone other than the charmer

Mind Control

A mind-controlled hero:

Fights for the enemy team
Can use basic attacks and all skills except the first (ultimate)

Other Effects

Some effects aren’t marked with icons but still count as control effects.

Throwing in the Air

Temporarily removes a hero from battle
They cannot attack or use skills while airborne

Other Effects

Displacement

Moves a hero out of their position
They are unable to act during the effect

Blocking These Effects

Some heroes can cleanse or block control effects.
💡 Example: Celeste’s Purifying Sphere removes and prevents negative effects — including displacement and throwing in the air.
