“Yes, sir! I’m on my way!”

“Cockroaches, damn them! Come on, goblin, do what you’re here for!”

But there was no need to continue — the goblin Jet, master of exterminating insects and parasites, hunched over, fussing, setting up the equipment. In Tornville, where he comes from, the art of poisoning has developed to unprecedented heights. Recipes were passed down by inheritance, and the youth dreamed of new discoveries that could raise them to the heights of “exterminators”. Jet was also not without similar ambitions. But his thoughts kept returning to the scandalous idea for the Tornville residents that poisons could not only kill, but also heal, restore, and strengthen…

“Hey, goblin. Are you asleep?” the customer looked displeased.

“I’m almost done!” the young specialist hastily responded and increased the pressure in the sprayer.

In the evening, tired and exhausted, Jet was sitting at the dinner table. He wasn’t alone.

“No, listen to me!” the little mouse sprawled on a nearby chair was talking quite loudly. “Last time the neighbors made fun of your report on the theory of medicinal poisons. How worried you were! Maybe it’s time to fully commit to the cause and prove that your inventions are really ingenious? Poisons are cheap, and they don’t require magic or any other questionable stuff. If you use them a little differently, you can create a real miracle!”

“Thibault, don’t rush me. I already work all day, and spend all weekend in the laboratory. No one wants my research. Think of it as pampering myself…”

“Oh, friend! You have to believe in yourself!”

That’s how it went weeks after weeks. Jet was getting more and more tired, losing his business sense and taste for life. He began to appear more often in the tavern to the Pockmarked Gilroy. Sometimes they took him out of there — he couldn’t stand on his feet. The admonitions and encouragement of his friend Thibault did not help at all.

That day, too, Jet spent his time in the tavern, sullenly looking at the displeased and grumbling Thibault. Nothing attracted the attention of the goblin until an armored warrior burst into the establishment. It is the famous Guardian Galahad! And behind him, snarling and grinning, a real demon! The people fled in panic, but in vain: a whole pack of monsters was waiting behind the wall. “Darkness, Darkness has come!” someone shouted a few houses up the street. “Save yourself who can!” Galahad, meanwhile, rose to his feet, but was wounded and bleeding. He lifted his heavy sword with effort, preparing to parry the attack. But he seems to have little energy left.

“Jet, this is the best time to test your potions!” Thibault pointed to a bag under the table, full of various vials and devices.

“You’re crazy! Why did you bring my things here? I… I can’t…”

“Wake up, idiot! Otherwise, the Guardian will die, and the whole village will be devoured by terrible monsters! Come on!”

Galahad dropped exhausted to one knee. The hand holding the sword trembled. Seeing this, Jet grabbed the bag, pulled out something that looked like a sprayer and loaded it with a bottle of bright pink liquid. The goblin fired directly at the Guardian. Everyone who was still in the tavern gasped: “My God, he killed Galahad!” But the Guardian not only didn’t die but literally jumped up, full of strength and military passion. “Come on, master of Tornville! Fire again!” shouted the knight, excited and seemingly not tired at all.

And Hero Wars Jet gave all he could! While one hand held the sprayer, the other threw flasks of bright green poison at the snarling demon. The monster howled, began to fall on his leg, and then was successfully finished off by Galahad. The goblin and the human continued to work in tandem, destroying the Spawn of Darkness throughout the town.

Since then, no master from Tornville has made fun of Jet. The goblin was invited to the Guardians, and the minds of the youngsters are agitated by the recipes of the Elixir of Vigor and other potions invented by a talented exterminator.
