Hero Wars Totems are the single biggest power swing in any Titan fight. Each one is tied to an element, unleashes a battle-changing skill once it charges, and quietly buffs every Titan of that element even when it never gets summoned. There are now six of them, so this guide covers all six, how they activate, where fragments come from, and what to do with spare spheres.
All 6 Hero Wars Totems
Every totem has a unique Base Skill plus a permanent stat bonus for its element. The bonus figures below are the values hwdaily lists for each totem.
How Hero Wars Totems Activate
| Totem | Titans needed | Boosts | Level-up currency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water | 3 | Attack | Guild War Trophies + Emeralds |
| Fire | 3 | Attack | Guild War Trophies + Emeralds |
| Earth | 3 | Health | Guild War Trophies + Emeralds |
| Dark | 2 | Health | Clash of Worlds Trophies + Emeralds |
| Light | 2 | Attack | Clash of Worlds Trophies + Emeralds |
| Distortion | 3 | Attack | Echo of Change + Emeralds |
- Summoners count double. Summoner Titans such as Verdoc and Phyto count as two Titans, so a summoner plus one more Titan of that element is enough for Water, Fire, Earth or Distortion. For Distortion, that means Valdur and Echo plus one other Distortion Titan activates the totem.
- Two totems in one fight. With five Titan slots, you can run two totems whenever both requirements fit, which usually means pairing one 3-Titan element with Light or Dark.
- Bonuses are always on. The Attack and Health boosts apply even if the totem never gets summoned in battle.
- Max progression. Each totem evolves to 6 stars with fragments and levels up to 130.
Energy and Overcharging
A totem fires once it reaches 3,000 energy. It gains energy whenever a Titan of the same element acts, so more Titans of that element means a faster first cast.
Beyond 3,000, the totem keeps storing energy, which makes the next activation stronger. That overcharge is why a patient Fire totem can one-shot an entire team instead of needing a second cast.
Fusion Skills
On top of its Base Skill, every totem can hold two Affinity Skills crafted through Fusion: one Elemental Skill, paid for with Elemental Catalysts, and one Primal Skill, paid for with Primal Catalysts. In addition, you can fuse skills even onto a 1-star totem.
How to Get Totem Fragments
There are two main sources: the Altar of the Elements in Titan Valley, and Totem Spheres from events and Special Seasons. Both feed into Bad Luck Protection (BLP), which guarantees a fragment once your emerald spending at the Altar hits the next threshold.
However, the two sources move your BLP counter differently. Here’s the official example, starting with 2 fragments and 45,000 emeralds spent:
Fragment from a Titan Artifact Sphere
You advance a BLP step, but the counter stays at 45,000. Your next guarantee lands at 850,000, so you still have about 805,000 to go.
Fragment from a Totem Sphere
You advance a BLP step, and the counter jumps to 466,667. The next guarantee is still 850,000, so only about 383,333 remain.
Worth knowing
- Your first two fragments from the Altar or a Totem Sphere match your strongest Titan element. After that, the element is random.
- If Distortion is your strongest element, those early fragments come from a random other element instead.
- The Lesser Absolute Spirit Summoning Sphere ignores that rule, so its fragments are random from the start.
- Simply receiving a Totem Sphere counts as getting a fragment for BLP, even before you open it.
- After you collect 100 fragments from the Altar, it stops dropping them, although spheres still work.
For the full emerald threshold table, see the Totem Fragments & Bad Luck Protection guide.

There are eight sphere types. The key differences are which elements they can roll and whether you choose the element yourself.

How to Gift or Exchange a Totem Sphere
Once your totems are maxed, extra spheres can go to a friend, another server on your account, or the catalyst pile. Note that only whole spheres can be gifted, so loose fragments can’t be sent to anyone.
Which spheres you can gift
| If you have maxed (6★)… | You can gift or send |
|---|---|
| All six totems | Any sphere in the game, including Distorted |
| Water, Fire & Earth only | Lesser Elemental, Elemental |
| Light & Dark only | Light Spirit, Dark Spirit, Ancient Elemental |
| Dark | A Dark Spirit sphere: gift it, send it to another server, or swap it for a Light Spirit sphere |
| Light | A Light Spirit sphere: gift it, send it to another server, or swap it for a Dark Spirit sphere |
Who can receive one? The recipient must not have maxed their totems yet, and they must not already hold enough spheres or fragments to take their totems to 6 stars.
How to send it
- hero-wars.com: open the Support chat with Raymond, press the star icon at the top, and pick Gift/exchange a Totem Sphere. Alternatively, go through Gameplay → Gift/exchange a Totem Sphere.
- Facebook: contact the Support team directly.
Converting spheres into Elemental Catalysts
The old 200,000-emerald exchange is gone. Instead, every totem fragment or Totem Sphere converts into 350 Elemental Catalysts for Fusion.
In short, Hero Wars Totems reward planning: build your lineup around the activation counts, track where your BLP counter sits before opening spheres, and turn true leftovers into catalysts or a gift for a guildmate.
