What Adam Needs From a Pet
To understand the best pet options for Adam, you first need to know what his kit actually relies on. First, physical attack drives every skill he has. Additionally, armor penetration determines how quickly he reaches the physical attack stacking phase through Adaptive Caliber. Finally, his main defensive tool is dodge, which sits at around 13,000 at base.
Any pet worth equipping on Adam needs to address at least one of those three needs. With that framework in mind, the comparison between the four candidates becomes much clearer.
The Four Pets for Adam — Stats Breakdown

On top of that, the armor penetration War Flag pattern at red rank adds around 9 to 11 percent more armor penetration. Combined, Adam can reach close to 40,000 armor penetration before the battle even begins.
Most tanks in the game sit between 50,000 and 55,000 armor. With Vex equipped, Adam needs only two to three attacks to break through completely and begin stacking physical attack — roughly 5 to 8 seconds into the fight. That is an extremely fast ramp to his damage phase.
By contrast, Cain contributes around 3,000 dodge. Adam has approximately 11,500 base dodge, so Cain raises his dodge chance by roughly 4 percent. That is a real improvement, but a limited one. Five stacks means approximately 25,000 extra damage per hit — additional value, but not a number that dramatically changes outcomes. The stat contribution from Vex is actually stronger than this skill on its own.
Why Cain’s Dark Patron Changes Everything for Adam
Ultimately, Cain’s Dark Patron stands apart from everything else. Every time Adam successfully dodges an incoming attack, he gains 35 percent bonus energy. More energy means more frequent ultimates. More ultimates mean Hunter’s Mark gets placed on enemy heroes faster. Once all five enemies are marked, Fan of the Hammer ricochets between all five targets — and that is the moment Adam’s damage truly begins compounding. Every dodge feeds energy, every ultimate marks another hero, and every Fan of the Hammer activation triggers Adaptive Caliber up to fifteen times. No other pet comes close to this skill for Adam.
Which Pet Is Best for Adam in Most Situations?
