Path of Legends Event Mistake | Hero Wars Dominion Era
The most costly Path of Legends event mistake isn’t losing a battle — it’s quietly draining the resources that were supposed to carry you to the finish line. In Astrid’s Timeline, most players don’t notice anything is wrong until their Energy Crystals and Stall Coins have already vanished.
A bad refresh here, the wrong Workshop upgrade there, and a handful of heroes you never actually needed: individually these choices look harmless, yet together they can starve an otherwise healthy run. After grinding through the chapters, testing teams, and watching exactly where resources disappear, we’ve pinned down the traps that matter most. So if you’re new to these Adventures, pay close attention — because avoiding these errors is what separates a smooth run from a stalled one.
Path of Legends Event Mistake #1: Copying the Final Team Instead of the Process
The easiest way to misread one of our chapter guides is to copy the final lineup instead of the process behind it. You reach the end of a video, see Electra, Adam, Byrna, Somna and Astrid standing together, and assume those five are simply “the team” to build. In reality, you’re looking at the destination without the road that led there.
Remember that the Development Shop is randomized. Your first refresh might hand you Astrid while mine serves up Byrna, and the Electra card you’ve been hunting could appear instantly for you but stay hidden from me through refresh after refresh. That’s exactly why our walkthroughs show the entire journey — what we buy, what we skip, what we sell, what we pin, when we refresh, and, above all, why.
Chapter 5 is a perfect example. We bought combinations containing Arachne purely because we wanted Adam, then sold Arachne because she was never part of the plan. Later we did the same with Fluffy when Electra appeared beside him. None of that is wasted movement; instead, it’s adapting to whatever the shop offers. So don’t try to reproduce every shop page we land on — reproduce the decision-making, because the moment your shop gives you something different (and eventually it will), understanding the strategy is what rescues your run.
Mistake #2: Refreshing the Development Shop Until Your Stall Coins Are Gone
The opposite trap is just as common: refreshing the Development Shop so aggressively that you murder your Stall Coin economy. You need one Astrid, so you refresh and see nothing. Then you need one Electra, so you refresh again and still come up empty. Before long “just one more” turns into a dozen, and suddenly you’ve burned a mountain of Stall Coins chasing a single card while sitting on a team that could already win the next fight.
Before every refresh, ask yourself one simple question: can my current team beat the next battle? If the answer is yes, stop and go fight. That battle rewards you with more Stall Coins, and you return to the shop with real buying power instead of an empty wallet.
Chapter 5 showed this clearly. There were moments where we could have kept chasing cards, but with our coins running low we chose to fight instead. We won, came back with another 54 Stall Coins, then later banked another 80 — and suddenly we had room to develop again. As a result, we were controlling the shop rather than letting the shop control us.
Use Pinning Instead of Panic-Buying
Pinning is the tool most players forget. Whenever a card appears that you know you’ll need, but buying it immediately would wreck your budget, pin it first. Then fight, earn your coins, and come back for it. That single button can save an entire run when you use it with a little patience.
Mistake #3: Upgrading Your Workshop in the Wrong Order
This one can quietly cost you more than almost anything else in the event, because there’s a correct order to your three key relics — and skipping it means leaving Valor Coins on the table. The Tome of Greed always comes first, followed by the Amulet of Battle, and only then the Grail of Generosity.
The reason the Tome leads is simple: it rewards you for spending Energy Crystals. Every crystal you spend before developing the Tome is a crystal that could have been generating bonus Valor Coins — and you never get those lost coins back. Here’s how the priority breaks down:
One more warning: actually look at what you’re clicking. The Workshop layout can shift around, so never rely on muscle memory and dump Energy Crystals into the wrong relic just because you assumed the upgrade was sitting in its usual spot. Check first, spend second.
Mistake #4: Over-Upgrading Relics Because More Power Feels Safer
On the surface this feels logical. If Level 15 makes you stronger, then surely Level 20 makes Chapter 5 easier and Level 25 makes it safer still. These Adventures, however, aren’t about becoming as powerful as physically possible — they’re about becoming powerful enough for the smallest possible cost.
When our tested Chapter 5 route calls for an Amulet of Battle at Level 15, your target is Level 15 — not 20 because it looks tidier, and not 25 because nerves are talking. Every extra Energy Crystal has value somewhere else, and once it’s spent, it’s gone for good. That’s precisely why we publish recommended relic levels throughout the walkthroughs: the testing is already done, so you don’t need to buy reassurance with resources you’ll want later.
Mistake #5: Developing Every Hero the Shop Throws at You
The Development Shop is very good at making mediocre purchases look useful. Another card shows up and it’s “only a few Stall Coins.” A fresh hero appears and “maybe I’ll need them later.” A discounted combination lands and “that’s great value!” Stop right there, because good value on something you don’t need is still wasted value.
Look again at how Chapter 5 played out. We wanted Adam, and when he appeared alongside Arachne we bought the combination and sold Arachne. We wanted Electra, and when she arrived beside Fluffy we kept her and let him go. Meanwhile, the cards for Astrid, Byrna, Somna and Electra genuinely strengthened our core, so those purchases earned their place — and Electra was eventually developed fully for the chapter.
That’s focused progression in action. Every Stall Coin should answer a single question: what does this purchase do for my next battle? If you can’t answer that, you almost certainly don’t need it.
Mistake #6: Panicking Over an Imperfect Battle
Not every victory needs all five heroes standing at the end. During Chapter 5 we had fights where Adam dropped first, and the world kept turning — the other four finished the job, we collected our Stall Coins, and we carried on developing. That still counts as a successful battle.
So don’t confuse a messy win with a failed strategy. These Adventures are resource-management puzzles just as much as combat challenges, and if sacrificing one hero still clears the node and pushes your economy forward, then you take the win and keep moving. The goal isn’t pretty battle footage; it’s reaching the end efficiently.
Mistake #7: Going Into the Timeline Without a Plan
Going in blind is the Path of Legends event mistake that amplifies every other trap on this list. The most important habit across every Astrid chapter is knowing where you’re headed before you spend a single Energy Crystal. A quick plan answers a handful of questions up front:
- Which chapter am I targeting?
- What Amulet of Battle level does that chapter require?
- Which heroes are my genuine priorities?
- How many resources can I realistically afford to spend?
- Which purchases are essential, and which are merely nice to have?
Everything inside the Timeline is designed to tempt one more relic level, one more refresh, one more card, one more roll. Individually, none of those decisions looks catastrophic — but stack twenty of them together and that’s exactly where a run quietly disappears. So use the chapter walkthroughs before you spend, not after the mistake is already made.
How to Win Astrid’s Timeline: Waste the Least
If there’s one lesson to carry out of this Path of Legends event mistake breakdown, it’s that the Timeline isn’t won by the player who spends the most — it’s won by the player who wastes the least. Follow the reasoning behind each guide instead of blindly copying the final lineup, protect your Stall Coins, lean on pinning rather than panic-buying, and upgrade your Workshop in the right order. Beyond that, avoid over-leveling relics just because you can, develop only the heroes that move your run forward, and never mistake an ugly win for a bad one.
The comments under our guides are part of the strategy too. Different players draw different shop rolls, and someone often discovers a cleaner path through a battle that gave us trouble — so read those notes, share what worked for you, and turn one walkthrough into hundreds of players solving the same puzzle from every angle. Every resource you preserve today simply hands you another option tomorrow.
