Best Julius Teams Guide | Hero Wars Alliance
If you’ve been wondering which lineups actually make the most of Julius’s new Relics, this Best Julius Teams Guide walks you through three Hero Wars Alliance compositions that are standing out right now. Our favorite kitty was already holding his place in the meta before the Relics arrived, so this isn’t a rescue story. Instead, it’s about how many new possibilities have opened up around him.
The protection is stronger, and so is the sustainability. More importantly, once Julius reaches his Level 20 Relic, every Shield on the team carries extra weight: whenever Julius or an ally gains a Shield, the negative effects on that hero are removed. We’ve already broken down the Relics themselves, so today we’re skipping straight to the fun part — the teams.
What Julius’s Level 20 Relic Really Changes
Before diving in, here’s one reminder from our earlier testing. Level 20 Julius does not erase Damage over Time from the game. Iris and other DoT heroes can still punish Julius teams whenever they find a window between Shield applications.
What does change is how many answers a team has. Because the cleanse triggers on any Shield an ally gains — not only Shields from Julius — every Shield source in your lineup becomes a potential cleanse. As a result, heroes who generate Shields are suddenly worth a second look, and so are heroes who were previously too fragile against negative effects.
Team 1: Julius, Judge, Isaac, Nebula and Eva
Our first composition will feel very familiar to Progress players. At its heart sits the famous JJI core — Julius, Judge and Isaac — and if there’s one thing this trio knows how to do, it’s create Shields. Their overlapping Shield mechanics keep the whole team constantly protected.
Adding Nebula and Eva, however, turns this from a team built to survive into a team built to win. Nebula and Eva become the offensive engine: a Nebula-boosted Eva can put devastating pressure on the enemy, picking targets apart with extremely dangerous precision attacks while JJI gives her the protection she needs to operate.
That’s what makes the structure so effective. Defense and offense are tightly connected — Julius, Judge and Isaac lay the foundation, Nebula supports it while empowering the damage, and Eva becomes the weapon.
How This Team Handles Iris
For years, Iris has been an enormous headache for Progress. Fortunately, Julius’s Relics give this old foundation a much better way to deal with negative effects. Nebula already brings one layer through her Level 10 Relic, which removes negative effects while also healing. On top of that, Level 20 Julius turns every Shield gain into a cleansing opportunity, and this team produces Shields constantly.
To be precise, though, this doesn’t make the team immune to Iris. We saw in our own testing that if her DoT slips through between Shields, it can still do enormous damage. In other words, Iris hasn’t disappeared — Progress simply has significantly more tools to fight back now.
Team 2: Julius, Rufus, Folio, Polaris and Aidan
Next, let’s step outside the traditional Progress structure, because this team shows off what might be the most interesting part of the Level 20 Relic. The wording doesn’t require the Shield to come from Julius. Whenever Julius or an ally gains a Shield, that hero is cleansed — which means we can look beyond the usual Progress family.
Here, Rufus, Julius and Aidan form a massive defensive foundation built around Shields, healing and sustainability. For an attacker, that can be an absolute nightmare. Picture finally building momentum: your negative effects are landing, health bars are dropping, and you’re starting to break through. Then another Shield appears, the debuff is wiped, and healing starts reversing all that progress. Suddenly you’re almost back where you started.
Meanwhile, Folio and Polaris are still waiting to be dealt with. They add control and offensive pressure to a team that’s already extremely difficult to crack. What we like most is that this isn’t five heroes doing the same job — the defensive trio buys time and disrupts the attacker, while Folio and Polaris use that time to create pressure of their own.
In this lineup, Julius acts as the bridge connecting everything. At Level 20, a Shield doesn’t just absorb damage anymore; it’s also another chance to remove a negative effect. That said, nothing here is invincible. Every team has counters, and the right answer can eventually break any defensive structure. The real strength of this composition is how many problems it forces the attacker to solve at the same time.
Team 3: Julius, Judge, Isaac, Yasmine and Sebastian
For our third composition, we return to JJI — but this time to give an old favorite a much safer home. In the past, Yasmine in this type of team could be very vulnerable to Iris. Once Damage over Time started working on her, the JJI foundation couldn’t always provide the answer she needed.
Julius’s Level 20 Relic changes that interaction. Again, Iris can still beat Yasmine if she gets the right window between Shields. Even so, Yasmine now has more opportunities to shed negative effects inside this structure, and if JJI keeps her protected long enough for her to find her moment, she can strike.
When Yasmine strikes from this foundation, the result can be brutal. The team offers Armor Penetration and Critical Hit support, and Sebastian completes the offensive side. He’s an excellent partner here because the lineup is built around heroes who benefit enormously from Critical Hits — he boosts that pressure while adding extra pure damage. Defensively, he also contributes another layer of protection alongside Julius, Judge and Isaac.
So the philosophy is very different from the Eva team. With Eva, JJI builds a fortress while Nebula and Eva systematically dismantle the enemy. With Yasmine and Sebastian, by contrast, JJI creates a safe environment until Yasmine can explode onto the right target. It’s the same defensive core with a completely different offensive identity.
Variation: Swap in Nebula and Satori
If you’d like to take that same JJI foundation in another direction, replace Yasmine and Sebastian with Nebula and Satori. The opponent still faces the Julius, Judge and Isaac defensive core, yet the problem they need to solve becomes completely different.
Best Julius Teams Guide: Quick Comparison
Here’s how the three main lineups — plus the Satori variation — stack up side by side.
| Team | Defensive Core | Win Condition | Key Strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| Julius, Judge, Isaac, Nebula, Eva | JJI | Nebula-boosted Eva dismantles enemies | Two cleanse layers vs Iris (Nebula L10 + Julius L20) |
| Julius, Rufus, Folio, Polaris, Aidan | Rufus + Julius + Aidan | Folio and Polaris pressure while the defense stalls | Shield–cleanse–heal cycle that resets attacker progress |
| Julius, Judge, Isaac, Yasmine, Sebastian | JJI | Yasmine bursts the right target | Crit + Armor Penetration with a safer Yasmine |
| Julius, Judge, Isaac, Nebula, Satori | JJI | A different offensive problem off the same core | Flexibility around JJI |
Why Julius’s Relics Open the Door to Experimentation
Some heroes fell out of certain compositions because Damage over Time and negative effects made them too vulnerable. Julius isn’t magically removing that problem, but he is creating a safer environment where those heroes can be reconsidered. Of course he got stronger — the more interesting question is what his strength allows the other four heroes to do.
That’s exactly what these three teams demonstrate. Each takes a completely different approach, and all of them show that Level 20 Julius is about more than one powerful Relic: it changes the value of every Shield around him. Ultimately, that’s why this Best Julius Teams Guide focuses on approaches rather than one fixed lineup.
Now it’s your turn, Guardians. Which Julius composition are you testing? Have you found another combination that gets significantly stronger with his new Relics? And which Julius team should we put through serious battle testing next? Our favorite kitty was already good — now there are far more reasons to experiment with what we put around him.
