Luther Relics Guide | Hero Wars Alliance
This Luther Relics Guide breaks down every major milestone of Luther’s Relic in Hero Wars Alliance, from Level 1 all the way to Level 30. Following his recent rework, Luther has become one of the more interesting Tanks to invest in, so the real question is no longer whether he’s worth building, but how far you should push his Relic.
In this guide, we’ll look at what each upgrade actually does, where the biggest jumps in value happen, and which stopping point makes sense for your budget. We’ll also cover a few team combinations that make his Level 30 ability shine against magic-based teams.
Why Luther’s Rework Changes the Conversation
Before diving into the Relic itself, it’s worth acknowledging how good the rework is. In particular, his fourth skill, Doctrine of Faith, gives Luther a much clearer identity against magic-heavy compositions.
The improvements to his Magic Defense, including the extra Magic Defense he gains whenever he receives Magic Damage, make him far sturdier against magical pressure. In fact, this skill is so impactful that it almost feels like a Relic ability on its own.
That matters for everything that follows. Because his base kit already handles a lot of the defensive work, every Relic level needs to be judged on what it adds on top of that foundation.
Luther Relics Guide: Level-by-Level Breakdown
Relic Level 1 – Righteous Retribution
At Level 1, Luther unlocks Righteous Retribution. Every 12 seconds, he begins accumulating Righteousness based on the damage he takes over the following eight seconds. When that window ends, or if Luther dies while the effect is active, he releases the stored power as Physical Damage to nearby enemies.
Now consider where Luther spends most of his fight: right inside the enemy formation. As a result, he can soak up pressure while building toward a burst of damage aimed at the very opponents surrounding him.
There’s one important distinction, though. The damage Luther accumulates isn’t prevented, so he still takes it in full. Instead, the ability turns that incoming pressure into an offensive payoff that fits his role and positioning naturally. For a Level 1 Relic, it’s a well-designed addition.
Relic Level 10 – Faster Gehenna Disruption
Level 10 improves Gehenna, one of Luther’s signature abilities tied to his jump into the enemy formation. With this upgrade, his jump-related disruption can trigger more often, on an eleven-second interval.
This is another strong addition. Luther is a Tank who can leap straight into the enemy backline, disrupting positioning and pressuring the damage dealers and supports who usually sit there. Consequently, more frequent activations mean more chances to interfere with those key Heroes.
It’s also our first recommended stopping point. If you’re working with a limited budget, Relic Level 10 is already a very reasonable place to pause. After all, Luther’s reworked kit provides strong defensive mechanics against Magic Damage, while Level 1 adds a new source of Physical Damage and Level 10 boosts how often he disrupts. Together, these upgrades complement what he already does well, and you don’t need to max every Relic to get good use out of a Hero.
Relic Level 20 – Armor Penetration from Doctrine of Faith
Level 20 enhances Doctrine of Faith by granting Luther additional Armor Penetration whenever he receives Magic Damage. Since he spends so much time inside the enemy formation, fighting magic-based teams keeps this bonus active, helping his Physical Damage cut through enemy Armor. Combined with the improved damage scaling from his rework, it opens up a genuinely interesting offensive angle.
However, it’s important to evaluate this upgrade for what it is. The Armor Penetration applies to Luther himself, not the whole team. A team-wide version would have created huge synergy with physical damage dealers, but that simply isn’t how this Relic works.
So, while it isn’t a team buff, it’s still an excellent personal upgrade for a Tank who actively attacks the enemy formation. For players who want to go beyond Level 10, Level 20 is another worthwhile milestone.
Relic Level 30 – Unshakable Faith
Level 30 is where the conversation changes completely. Unshakable Faith is a passive that, as long as Luther stays alive, reduces the Magic Attack of enemies around him, by up to 95,000 Magic Attack at maximum level.
Notably, this is a reduction to the enemy’s Magic Attack stat, not a flat percentage cut to all incoming Magic Damage. That distinction matters because Magic Attack drives the effectiveness of many offensive abilities, and even some healing abilities.
On top of that, Luther is perfectly positioned to exploit it. Because he jumps into the enemy formation, he carries that Magic Attack reduction straight into the area where important enemy Heroes stand. Pair that with Doctrine of Faith boosting his own Magic Defense when he takes Magic Damage, and you get a Hero who grows more resistant to magical pressure while weakening the enemies nearby.
In other words, Level 30 isn’t simply another boost to Luther’s personal damage. Instead, it’s a defensive mechanic that can shape how the entire opposing team performs.

Building Around Level 30: Tristan, Crow and Guus
The possibilities get even more interesting once you start combining Heroes. At this point, we’re no longer evaluating Luther as an isolated Tank, but looking at how his abilities interact with the rest of the composition. Three Heroes in particular stand out alongside him.
Tristan
Tristan provides valuable offensive support, including Armor Penetration through his Artifact, which helps physical attackers deal more effective damage. On top of that, Luther belongs to the Honor faction, so he also interacts with Tristan’s Blessed mechanics.
Crow
Crow brings Silence, particularly against Intelligence-based Heroes, and his new Talisman improves his Physical Attack and Critical Hit potential. As a result, while Luther pressures the enemy formation and drags down their Magic Attack, Crow can interfere with key abilities and keep dealing Physical Damage.
Guus
With his Level 30 Relic, Guus adds a remarkable defensive layer through Golden Feathers. While protected by a Golden Feather, allies receive 75% less Magic Critical Damage and Pure Critical Damage. Keep in mind, however, that this protection applies to those critical damage types specifically, not to every instance of Magic or Pure Damage.
Put together, this forms a very interesting anti-magic structure. Luther weakens nearby enemies, Crow interferes with their ability rotations, Tristan supports the team’s offensive potential, and Guus adds healing plus strong protection against critical damage. In short, it’s different mechanics all working toward the same objective.
Of course, no combination guarantees a win against every magic team. Enemy positioning, timing, control effects and the specific Heroes involved still matter. Even so, synergies like these are exactly why Luther’s Level 30 Relic deserves serious consideration.
So, Where Should You Stop?
Here’s how the decision breaks down in this Luther Relics Guide, depending on your goals:
- On a limited budget, stop at Level 10: you already benefit from the excellent rework, the new Level 1 damage mechanic, and more frequent Gehenna disruption.
- For extra offense, push to Level 20: it’s a very good additional investment if you want Luther contributing more Physical Damage through personal Armor Penetration.
- Against magic-heavy teams, go to Level 30: it’s our preferred stopping point if you want the mechanic that makes the greatest difference against magic-based compositions.
Overall, Luther’s rework is a success, and his Relics complement it beautifully. The early levels offer good value, Level 20 adds another offensive dimension, and Level 30 delivers the major defensive transformation. Ultimately, Unshakable Faith gives him a powerful way to influence the enemy team’s Magic Attack, which goes well beyond his individual performance.
Now we want to hear from you: where are you planning to stop with Luther’s Relics? Are you settling at Level 10 or Level 20, or going all the way to Level 30? And have you already tested him alongside Tristan, Crow and Guus? Share your experience in the comments!
