Hero Wars Best Tanks 2026

Hero Wars Best Tanks

Picking among the Hero Wars best tanks is one of the first big decisions every new account faces, because sooner or later the same wall shows up. Your damage dealers are leveled, the healer is ready, and the team looks great on paper. Then the battle starts, and the frontline folds in seconds. Everyone standing behind it goes down right after.

That’s the tank problem, and it’s one of the most common questions we get from newer players: which tank is actually worth building? So in this guide, we’re breaking down four of them. However, we’re not crowning a single winner. Every account is different, and what you already own, what you can farm, and how much you’re willing to invest all change the answer. Instead, we’ll look at what each tank really does, where they shine, and what it takes to get them working. By the end, the right choice for your account should be a lot clearer.

Electra von Grave: The Most Complete Tank

Let’s start with the hero at the top of our list. On paper, Electra von Grave is the most complete tank a new player can aim for, and it all begins with her ultimate.

Embrace of Pain

Electra wraps herself in a large shield. While it holds, she can’t act or move, which sounds like a weakness at first. Here’s the twist, though: as long as that shield is up, she’s also immune to control effects. Nothing can stun her or push her around, so she simply stands there and soaks.

When the shield expires, it explodes and hits nearby enemies for a share of all the damage it absorbed. In other words, the harder the enemy team hits her, the harder that explosion lands on them. Attacking Electra is basically loading the gun she’s about to fire back.

Oath of Protection

Electra doesn’t only protect herself, though. Oath of Protection redirects part of the damage taken by allies whose health is lower than hers, so any teammate sitting below her health has some of their hits taken by Electra instead. Better still, during Embrace of Pain the whole team receives that same protection. That’s the moment everything clicks: she’s shielded, immune to control, and absorbing damage meant for everyone else, and all of it feeds the explosion.

Spark of Life and Immortal Shell

Sustain comes from Spark of Life, which hits the nearest enemies and turns the damage dealt into health for Electra. As a result, she heals herself just by fighting. Finally, her passive, Immortal Shell, converts her Armor, Magic Defense and Dodge into Strength at the start of every battle. It’s an unusual design, and it shows exactly what kind of tank she is. Rather than hiding behind defensive stats, she’s built to take the hit, heal it back, and punish whoever threw it.

The Catch: Actually Getting Her

So we have a tank that guards the team, heals herself, and turns incoming damage into a weapon. What’s the catch? Simply put, it’s getting her. Right now, Electra is the grand prize in the Soul Atrium, which means she can be obtained, but nothing is guaranteed. She also isn’t in the regular soul chests yet.

For a new account, then, Electra is a bit of a gamble. If luck is on our side and she lands, she’s the strongest start on this list. Otherwise, we need a plan that doesn’t depend on luck.

Galahad: The Most Reachable Tank

That plan has a name: Galahad. If Electra is the dream pull, Galahad is the reliable one, and he’s by far the most reachable tank on this list. He shows up in soul chests, in the Soul Atrium, and in the campaign itself. That last source is the big deal for a new account, because campaign drops mean steady soul stones day after day without spending a single emerald. Nobody has to wait on luck to build Galahad.

An Aggressive Kit for a Tank

Galahad’s kit tells us a lot about how he plays. Unstoppable Charge dashes him forward, clears control effects off him, and hits every enemy around him, so when the enemy tries to lock him down, he simply charges out of it. Retaliation goes straight for the enemy with the lowest health, which makes him surprisingly good at finishing off targets that are already hurting. Meanwhile, Pride of Harun adds extra pure damage to his skills and attacks for a short window. Finally, his ultimate, Iron Skies, brings swords down on the enemy team.

What’s Missing From His Kit

Notice something missing? There are no shields here, no damage redirect, and no team protection. That’s the honest part of the Galahad story. He doesn’t hold the line by protecting anyone; instead, he holds it by hitting back and healing through lifesteal. This works beautifully when he has the stats behind it, but when he doesn’t, it falls apart fast. A half-built Galahad melts, while a properly invested one turns into a wall that also deals real damage.

So here’s the trade. Galahad is the easiest tank to get, but he’s only worth it if we’re ready to keep feeding him resources: levels, gear, stars, the whole package. If we’re willing to commit, he pays that back. On the other hand, spreading resources thin means he’s going to struggle.

Hero Wars best tanks: Galahad, Electra von Grave, Julius and Mushy and Shroom

Julius: The Team-Wide Shield

That brings us to a very different kind of tank. Galahad protects the team by fighting, whereas Julius protects it by covering it. This is where the frontline stops being one hero and becomes a shield for everyone.

Defense Meowtrix

It starts with his ultimate. Julius surrounds the entire team with a matrix that absorbs damage, and once that matrix finally breaks, every hero on the team gets healed. So the enemy burns through a shield, and their reward for breaking it is watching our whole team heal up. That’s a frustrating fight to be on the wrong side of.

Copycat Device

Next comes Copycat Device. Julius places an energy shield on himself, and if nobody breaks it within five seconds, whatever is left gets copied onto every ally. On top of that, every time Julius receives a shield, his Physical Attack goes up for the rest of the battle. In short, the longer the fight goes, the stronger he gets.

Nine-Lives Engine and Purrfect Reflexes

The real magic, however, happens when those shields break. That’s where Nine-Lives Engine comes in: whenever an ally loses a shield, all their negative effects are removed, and they get a quick burst of Armor and Magic Defense. Even breaking a shield doesn’t fully work out for the enemy, because it cleanses our hero and toughens them up right when they need it.

Purrfect Reflexes then ties it all together by speeding up our allies’ attacks and skills for every active shield. Think about that combination. More shields mean a faster team, and a faster team means more damage, more healing, and more skills going off. Julius isn’t just tanking for himself; he makes the whole team harder to kill and faster while doing it.

As for getting him, Julius comes from soul chests and the Soul Atrium. Since there’s no campaign route, that’s a slower grind than Galahad. Still, it’s far more predictable than chasing a grand prize.

Mushy and Shroom: The Frontline Factory

Finally, we have the strangest tank on this list, in a good way. If Julius is about shields, Mushy is about bodies, and lots of them.

Perfect Copy

Her ultimate spawns a copy of Shroom, but it doesn’t start ready to fight. Instead, it shows up inactive with part of its health missing. The copy can soak damage and receive healing, and once it’s healed to full for the first time, it wakes up and fights with all of the hero’s skills. Up to three of these copies can be on the field at once, which means three extra frontliners standing between the enemy and our backline.

Branching Mycelium

Branching Mycelium works on the same idea. Mushy spawns three spore mushrooms, again with part of their health missing. Once they’re fully healed, they run at the enemy and explode, and that explosion silences everything nearby for four seconds. That’s four seconds without enemy skills, which can swing an entire fight. Even better, the mushrooms prioritize nearby enemies who haven’t been hit by spores yet, so the silence spreads out instead of stacking on one target.

Wild Growth and Will-o’-the-Wisp

With Wild Growth, inactive copies and spore mushrooms heal themselves over time, and that healing gets stronger for every active Shroom already on the field. Lastly, Will-o’-the-Wisp hits the nearest enemy, with bonus damage based on all the healing our allies received since it last fired.

Healing Is the Fuel

Notice the pattern? Copies wake up when healed, mushrooms explode when healed, and bonus damage comes from healing. Healing is the fuel, and that’s the key to Mushy. Paired with a solid healer, she fills the frontline with bodies that block, fight and silence, which is a nightmare to play against.

Without a good healer, however, the copies and mushrooms only fill up slowly on their own, and a lot of her kit spends the fight half-charged. So she’s not a tank we drop into any team; she’s a tank we build a team around. Like Julius, she comes from soul chests and the Soul Atrium.

Hero Wars Best Tanks Compared

Four tanks, four very different jobs. Here’s how the Hero Wars best tanks line up side by side.

Tank Role Key Strengths Where to Get Watch Out For
Electra von Grave All-round guardian Damage redirect, control immunity, exploding shield, self-healing Soul Atrium (grand prize) Never guaranteed
Galahad Aggressive bruiser Charges out of control, finishes low-health targets, lifesteal Campaign, soul chests, Soul Atrium Needs heavy investment
Julius Team-wide shield Team shields, cleanse on shield break, faster allies Soul chests, Soul Atrium Slower grind, no campaign route
Mushy and Shroom Frontline factory Extra bodies, 4-second silence, healing-scaled damage Soul chests, Soul Atrium Needs a strong healer

To sum up: Electra is the most complete package but depends on luck, Galahad is the easiest to get but demands commitment, Julius covers and speeds up the whole team, and Mushy turns healing into an army.

Which Tank Is Right for Your Account?

None of these is the wrong answer. Ultimately, the right pick depends on what your account already has, what you can realistically farm, and how much you’re ready to put in. A lucky Atrium pull points one way, a tight resource budget points another, and a strong healer already on the roster points somewhere else entirely.

Now we want to hear from you. Which tank carried your account through the early days? And is there one you think deserves a spot among the Hero Wars best tanks that we left out? Drop by our Discord and let us know, because we read every message.
