Introduction

Maxing out your War Flags‘ real potential in Hero Wars: Dominion Era isn’t just about equipping rare equipment—it’s also about getting control of Patterns. Patterns determine how much power your War Flag receives upon leveling it up.
Since each upgrade requires both Golden Threads (a premium currency) and excess Patterns of a particular tier, it’s easy to confuse what you actually need.
That is where this War Flag Pattern Calculator comes in: fill it with your existing stock (what you already have and what other ones you have) and your upgrade goal, and it will tell you exactly how much Threads you will consume and how many Patterns you still need.
Begin by filling in your numbers below, then read the more in-depth “What Are Patterns” section to see how the system works.

What Are War Flag Patterns?

In Hero Wars, War Flags are powerful fragments that grant additional stats and bonuses to your team during battles. Each War Flag contains three slots, and inside these slots you can install Patterns — special enhancements that either strengthen your allied heroes or weaken the enemy team.

Why They Matter

Patterns allow you to fine-tune your team’s strengths based on your playstyle. They can boost offensive stats like Magic Attack or Physical Attack, increase defensive stats like Armor and Magic Defense, or apply debuffs such as Dodge Reduction and Enemy Critical Hit Reduction. Upgraded Patterns provide significantly stronger effects, making them essential for success in high-level PvP and competitive modes.

Because each War Flag can hold only three different Patterns — and you cannot equip duplicates of the same type — choosing the right combination is an important part of strategy. A well-chosen set of Patterns can completely shift the outcome of battle.

Pattern Types

Pattern Types

There are currently nine different types of Patterns. Most of them provide buffs to allied Heroes, while some reduce the enemy Heroes’ stats. Each Pattern can be upgraded to enhance its effect.

Enemy Dodge Reduction Pattern

The Accuracy Pattern or Enemy Dodge Reduction Pattern decreases the enemy Heroes’ ability to dodge (from 1.5% to 22%).

Armor Pattern

The Armor Pattern increases the Armor of all allied Heroes (from 1.5% to 18%).

Armor Penetration Pattern

The Armor Penetration Pattern increases the Armor Penetration of all allied Heroes (from 1% to 12%).

Magic Attack Pattern

The Magic Attack Pattern increases the Magic Attack of all allied Heroes (from 1.15% to 16%).

Magic Defense Pattern

The Magic Defense Pattern increases the Magic Defense of all allied Heroes (from 2% to 24%).

Physical Attack Pattern

The Physical Attack Pattern increases the Physical Attack of all allied Heroes (from 1% to 14%).

Enemy Crit Reduction Pattern

The Enemy Crit Reduction Pattern decreases the critical hit chance of enemy Heroes (from 1% to 20%).

Magic Mastery Pattern

The Magic Mastery Pattern increases Magic Attack by 8% and Magic Penetration by 6% for the entire team.

Magic Penetration Pattern

The Magic Penetration Pattern increases the Magic Defense Penetration of all allied Heroes (from 1% to 12%).

The Basics: How Patterns Work – War Flag Patterns Calculator

Patterns are divided into categories such as Armor, Magic Attack, Physical Attack, Magic Defense, Enemy Dodge Reduction, and others. Each one affects either your own team or the enemy team in a specific way.

To use them, you must first unlock the Pattern, then upgrade it through color ranks: White → Green → Blue → Violet → Orange → Red → Ultimate.
Upgrading requires both duplicate Patterns of the same type and a resource known as Golden Threads. Each rank increases the effect power of that Pattern.

Once equipped in a War Flag slot, the Pattern’s bonus becomes active for your team. Patterns stored in your inventory don’t provide any effect until installed in a Flag.

What Are Golden Threads?

Golden Thread

In Hero Wars, Golden Threads are a specialised resource used to upgrade War Flag Patterns. They represent the currency you spend when advancing a Pattern through its colour-tiers, from the early levels to the highest.

Why They Matter

  • Golden Threads are required alongside duplicate Pattern pieces in order to move a Pattern from one tier to the next (for example, from White → Green → Blue, etc.).
  • The higher the tier you’re upgrading to, the more Golden Threads you must spend. This means that as you progress, Threads become a significant limiting factor for how fast and how far you can upgrade Pattern bonuses.
  • Because Patterns provide large statistical boosts at higher tiers (especially for competitive content like PvP or late-game raids), having sufficient Golden Threads is critical for maximising your team’s strength.

Upgrading Patterns – War Flag Pattern Calculator

A white Pattern only requires one White Pattern Fragment.

Further upgrading Patterns to a higher level is achieved by merging two identical Patterns — meaning two Patterns of the same type and level — and spending a certain amount of Golden Threads depending on the next level.

The only exception is the Ultimate level, which doesn’t require a duplicate Pattern but costs the highest amount of Golden Threads. Ultimate Patterns come in six variations, and the higher the variation, the lower the chance to obtain it. Golden Threads are consumed whether or not the new result is better than the previous one.

Golden Threads are the key currency required to upgrade Patterns. The table below shows how many identical Patterns and Golden Threads are needed for each tier.

Pattern Level / Color Patterns Needed Golden Threads Total Threads

In total, 32 White Patterns and 10,200 Golden Threads are needed to build 1 Red Pattern.
After that, each try to score the max “Ultimate” level costs an additional 3,750 Golden Threads.

Level Bonuses – War Flag Pattern Calculator

Each Pattern type in Hero Wars provides different stat bonuses depending on its level color. The higher the level, the stronger the percentage increase in bonuses. These bonuses apply to the entire allied team. For Accuracy (also known as Enemy Dodge Reduction), the value is negative because it reduces the enemy’s ability to dodge.

Unraveling Patterns

Besides rewards from the Weaving Patterns special event and seasonal events, unraveling existing Patterns (of any level) is another way to receive additional Golden Threads.
Unraveling offers a slightly better return rate than the total cost to create the Pattern — but it permanently destroys the Pattern from your inventory, so it should be done with care.

*Note: The total cost of an Ultimate Pattern can increase depending on how many attempts were made to boost it (3,750 Golden Threads per retry). Players should think carefully before unraveling an Ultimate Pattern.

Key Points to Remember

  • Every War Flag can hold three unique Patterns.
  • You cannot install two of the same Pattern type in a single Flag.
  • Patterns can provide buffs to allies or debuffs to enemies.
  • Higher-tier upgrades require more resources and Golden Threads, so it’s important to plan which ones you prioritize.

Strategic Tips

Choose Patterns that complement your main team composition. For example:

  • Magic teams benefit most from Magic Attack, Magic Penetration, and Magic Defense Patterns.
  • Physical teams should focus on Physical Attack, Armor Penetration, and Armor Patterns.
  • Hybrid or balanced teams can include utility Patterns like Enemy Dodge Reduction or Enemy Crit Reduction to counter specific opponents.

Upgrade gradually and prioritize the Patterns that bring the biggest boost to your core lineup. At later stages, the cost of Golden Threads becomes very high, so selective upgrading gives the best long-term value.
