The Spooky Festival mini game is back in Hero Wars, and on day one it hides a free reward of 20 energy across the map. There are no battles and no emeralds to spend. Instead, all it takes is a few well-placed clicks, a bit of ghost herding, and some patience with a three-round picture puzzle. In this guide, we walk through every hidden task in order, so you can clear the whole hunt in a few minutes.
What Is the Spooky Festival?
The Spooky Festival is the yearly Halloween event in Hero Wars, and it runs for seven days. You can reach it through the event portal on the main square. Inside, the Furnace of Souls hosts the event battles against Evil Minions, while the Merchant is where Spooky Festival Coins get spent. In addition, the pumpkin in the lower-right corner opens the Spooky Cauldron, where Ghost Energy turns into rewards.
Ghost Energy comes from the event quest chains. One of those chains rewards spending regular energy, so the free energy from this hunt actually pulls double duty. Also, keep in mind that leftover Ghost Energy and Spooky Festival Coins are converted into Trickster Chests automatically once the event ends. As a result, Ghost Energy left unused at the end is value we would rather spend during the event.
How to Complete the Spooky Festival Mini Game Tasks
There are seven hidden tasks in total. Each one only needs a single click once you know where to look, and none of them should take more than one visit per day. Tap any screenshot below to zoom in on the exact spot.
Task 1: The Tower
First, open the Tower and look at the first floor. On the left side, there is a blue candy. One click on it completes the first task.
Task 2: The Airship
Next, head to the Airship and open an artifact chest. Then check the top-left corner of the screen, where a spider web is tucked away. Clicking it completes task two.
Task 3: Circle of Summoning
After that, tap your guild banner and go into the Circle of Summoning. Look just past the summoning area, and you will spot a blue candy sitting on the waterfall.
Task 4: Titan Valley
Now open the Titan Valley. This time, the candy is a different type, and it waits in the bottom-right section of the screen.
Task 5: Campaign Chapter 6
Return to the main square and open the campaign. In chapter 6, look at the bottom-left area just past the Thorn Arches mission. A skeleton is standing there, so give it a click.
Task 6: Campaign Chapter 14
This task takes a little longer. In chapter 14, several ghosts float around the buildings. However, they only disappear three at a time, so you need to gather three ghosts into a group before clicking them. Repeat this until every ghost is gone. Since the ghosts wander a bit, it may take a few tries.
Task 7: The Pumpkins
Finally, go back to the main square. In front of the Merchant, there is a small cluster of pumpkins. Click the one on the right to finish the last task.
With all seven tasks done, the game rewards you with 10 free energy.
The Spooky Festival Mini Game Picture Puzzle
The hunt is not over yet. Stay on the main square and look to the left of the Spooky Festival entrance. There, you will find a red candy, and clicking it opens a picture puzzle.
Each puzzle shows a broken image. Your job is to find the missing pieces and drop each one into its correct spot. In total, there are three rounds, and every round is a step harder than the last.
Round 1: The Haunted Room
The first round shows a room packed with ghosts, pumpkins, and candy. It works as a gentle warm-up, because most pieces have bold shapes that are easy to match.
Round 2: The Black Cat Laboratory
Round two features a black cat inside a laboratory. Here, the image has more detail and darker tones, so the pieces are trickier to place.
Round 3: Iris and Robin
The last and toughest round shows Iris and Robin out collecting candy. Once it is done, you earn another 10 energy, which brings the day-one total to 20 free energy.
Tips for Solving the Puzzles
- Use the finished images above as a reference, and tap them to zoom in on the details.
- Start with pieces that have obvious features, like a face, a pumpkin, or a sharp edge, then fill in the busier areas.
- Match colors and lines across the borders, especially in the darker second and third images.
- Take your time, because there is no reason to rush any of the rounds.
