Robin Pet Synergy Explained

This Robin pet synergy explained guide starts with a simple test: pull up Robin’s patron list and count the healers on it. The game has nine heroes whose main role is healer, and Robin can patron eight of them: Byrna, Dorian, Guus, Jet, Markus, Martha, Maya and Thea. The only one missing is Aidan. That is not an accident, so today we’re digging into why the list looks this way, and what it means for Maya, Amira and Thea.

First, a quick catch-up. In our first look at Robin, we went through his full kit and named Martha as the standout patron pick. Part one then put Nebula against Byrna, and for Nebula it was the first real alternative to Cain in years. By part two, the real numbers were out, so we moved on to Guus, Astaroth and Somna. This is part three, and the three heroes on the table are Maya, Amira and Thea.

Robin Pet Synergy Explained: Why the List Is Full of Healers

The first clue is written right on the pet itself. According to Robin’s in-game description, he gives Energy to slow heroes and impedes fast opponents. Notice the wording: slow heroes. Not damage dealers, not assassins, but heroes who wait for their moment.

On top of that, the pattern goes beyond healers once we look at the full list. Robin can patron thirty heroes, and nineteen of them are healers or supports, either as their main role or their second one. That is almost two out of every three names. Nebula, Martha, Cornelius, Amira, Morrigan, Alvanor and Andvari all sit on it, so the list reads like a back line.

Nexters never wrote down an official reason. Still, the kit makes the logic pretty clear, and it comes down to three things.

1. The Value Sits in the Ultimate

A carry does damage the whole fight. A healer or support, by contrast, usually has one big moment: the team heal, the shield, the swing that turns the fight around. Fair Wind gives the owner 75 bonus Energy every five seconds. That works out to about 900 Energy a minute, which is close to one extra ultimate per minute. As a result, on a hero whose whole job is that one big moment, the value adds up fast.

2. Survival Stats, Not Damage Stats

As a patron, a fully built Robin adds about 99,500 Health and almost 10,000 Magic Defense. Those aren’t damage stats. Instead, they’re survival stats, and they’re exactly what a hero needs to stay alive long enough to cast.

3. Energy on a Timer, Not on Luck

Back in part one, we talked about Cain, whose Energy for Nebula depended on dodging. In some fights she dodged a lot; in others, almost never. Robin, however, works on a timer. Healers don’t want luck. They want to know the heal is coming.

Robin as a Patron (Max) Value
Fair Wind bonus Energy 75 every 5 seconds (about 900 per minute)
Bonus Health About 99,500
Bonus Magic Defense Almost 10,000
Patron list 30 heroes, 19 of them healers or supports

So that’s the theory. Now let’s see how it plays out on our three heroes, because each of them gets something different out of this pony.

Maya: A Faster Flower and a Faster Trap

Let’s start with Maya. Her ultimate, Queen of Flowers, grows a magical flower around her. The flower protects her from attacks, and as long as it stands, it heals the entire team over time. With about 170,000 Health, it can take quite a beating.

Here’s the fun part. When that flower finally dies, her passive, Queen’s Revenge, kicks in. The roots grab the nearest enemies, lock them in place and poison them for eight seconds, for close to 200,000 damage.

In other words, a faster ultimate on Maya isn’t just a faster heal. It’s a faster flower, and every flower that gets broken turns into a root trap. Enemies either leave it alone and let her team keep healing, or they burn it down and walk into the roots. Robin simply makes that choice come around more often.

On the bulk side, Maya sits at about 637,000 Health at max, so Robin’s Health bonus adds roughly 16% on top. Her other patron options are Albus, Axel and Biscuit, which means Robin isn’t filling an empty slot here. That said, none of those three put her ultimate on a faster cycle, and for a hero built around her flower, that’s the part that matters most.

Amira: Where Robin’s Stats Do the Most Work

Next up is Amira, and she might be the most interesting name on this list, because she isn’t a healer at all. She’s a support who plays with enemy behavior. Her ultimate, Careless Wish, wraps every single enemy in a whirlwind of cursed gold. For seven seconds, any damage an enemy deals weakens their own storm. When the timer runs out, each whirlwind explodes based on how much power it still has, for up to about 314,000 damage per enemy.

Think about what that does to a fight. Enemies either stop attacking to avoid the explosion, or they keep attacking and weaken it. Either way, Amira has just bought her team seven seconds, and with Robin she gets to make that wish more often.

This is also where the numbers really jump out. Amira is fragile: at max she has around 425,000 Health, the lowest of today’s three by a wide margin. Because of that, Robin’s Health bonus is worth about 23% more Health to her. Nearly a quarter more Health is a big deal for a middle line support who lives and dies by staying alive until her ultimate is ready. Her current options are Oliver, Axel and Biscuit, yet of today’s three heroes, Amira is where Robin’s stats do the most work.

Thea: The Cleanest Robin Synergy

That brings us to Thea. If you watched our Thea video, you know where we stand on her: she’s the magic-meta sustain anchor who deserves more credit than she gets, and Robin might be the pet that finally shows why.

Her ultimate, Solar Sanctuary, heals every ally on her team at once, for around 110,000 each. On its own, a faster Solar Sanctuary is already strong. However, once her Ascension skill, Blessed Solar Sanctuary, is unlocked, the math changes. Any healing from Solar Sanctuary that goes over an ally’s max Health turns into a shield that absorbs all damage.

So picture a fight where her team is still healthy. Normally, an early heal would be partly wasted. With that Ascension skill, though, nothing is wasted, because the extra becomes a shield. Add Robin feeding her Energy on a timer, and those heals and shields come around more often. That’s the clearest example of a slow hero turning steady Energy into real value.

Thea’s patron options are Axel, Mara, Merlin and now Robin. This is the toughest choice of today’s three, since Merlin and Mara both work on her silence. In our Thea video, Merlin cut her silence cooldown from 21 seconds to 14, while Mara stretches the silence out longer. For Thea, then, it really comes down to what the team leans on more: the silence, or the team heal and shields. If the answer is the heal, Robin is very hard to argue against.

Maya vs Amira vs Thea: Who Gets the Most From Robin?

Here’s how the three heroes compare side by side, using max-level numbers.

Maya Amira Thea
Ultimate Queen of Flowers Careless Wish Solar Sanctuary
Max Health ~637,000 ~425,000 —
Robin Health boost ~16% ~23% —
Other patrons Albus, Axel, Biscuit Oliver, Axel, Biscuit Axel, Mara, Merlin
What Robin adds More flowers, more root traps Biggest survival boost Faster heals and Ascension shields

Robin Pet Synergy Explained: Final Verdict

So where do we land? All three heroes get real value from Robin, but in different ways. Amira gets the biggest boost to survival, with almost a quarter more Health on the most fragile hero of the group. Meanwhile, Maya gets the most fun out of it, because every faster ultimate is both a heal and a trap. Finally, Thea gets the cleanest synergy of all, especially with her Ascension skill turning every extra heal into a shield.

Going back to where we started, this is the whole Robin pet synergy explained in one line: Robin is built for the heroes who wait. Healers and supports are the ones who wait the most, and they get the most back when the waiting gets shorter.

We’re not done with the list either. A few more names on it are worth a closer look, and that’s coming next. Until then, which healer or support is holding Robin on your account, and did this breakdown change that? Let us know on Discord.
