Hero Wars Beginner Heroes 2026
Choosing the right Hero Wars beginner heroes is the single biggest decision you make on a fresh account. The roster is enormous, and every hero on the screen looks like they could be the one. However, most of them aren’t, at least not yet. When you’re new, resources are tight, and every soul stone you pour into the wrong hero is a soul stone you never get back.
So in this guide we’re keeping it simple. These are ten heroes that give a brand-new Hero Wars Web player the most value for the least headache. There’s no deep math and no endgame theory here, just who they are, what they do, and why they’re worth knowing when you’re starting out.
The Top 10 Hero Wars Beginner Heroes, Counted Down
We’re starting at number ten and working our way up. Along the way, you’ll notice the list covers every job a new team needs: a free frontliner, tanks that forgive mistakes, supports, healers, a magic damage core, and two long-term targets to work towards.
#10 – Galahad: The Free Frontliner Who Hits Back
Every single player meets Galahad in the tutorial, which already makes him the most accessible hero on this list. He fights on the front line, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he just stands there soaking up hits. In fact, Galahad is built to hit back. Iron Skies brings down a rain of swords on the enemy team, while Retaliation goes straight for whichever enemy has the lowest health, finishing off targets that are already hurting.
The really clever part is Unstoppable Charge. He dashes forward, clears control effects off himself, and when the closest enemy tries to fire off their ultimate, Galahad can charge in and drain a chunk of their energy. For a hero you get for free, that’s a surprising amount of tools. He does want physical damage dealers around him to really shine later on. Still, as a first hero, it’s hard to find better value for zero cost.
#9 – Astaroth: The Tank That Forgives Mistakes
Early on, the biggest problem new players run into is simple: the team dies too fast. Astaroth exists to fix exactly that. Flame Veil throws a shield over the entire team that blocks physical damage. Meanwhile, Demon’s Allegiance quietly links him to whichever ally has the least health left, so he takes part of the physical damage meant for them.
Then there’s Last Word. Once per battle, Astaroth brings a fallen ally back to life, or himself if he goes down first. Think about what that means for a beginner. A fight that would have been lost because your damage dealer died early suddenly gets a second chance. As a bonus, Devastation burns away energy from the enemy furthest away, delaying their big moves. When you’re still learning the game, a tank that forgives mistakes is worth a lot.
#8 – Nebula: The Glue Hero
We like to call Nebula the glue hero. Serenity heals two nearby allies and strips negative effects off them, and that cleanse alone keeps teams alive through fights that would otherwise fall apart. Astral Projection, on the other hand, is a slow-flying projectile that damages the enemies around it when it lands and scatters their energy, pushing back their ultimates.
With Equilibrium, her basic attacks stop being attacks at all. Instead, each one boosts the attack of a nearby ally. As a result, Nebula heals, cleanses, slows the enemy down and makes her teammates hit harder, all at once. That kind of support never goes out of style, and whatever team you end up running, there’s a good chance she fits into it.
#7 – Martha: The Reliable Healer
Every beginner team needs healing, and Martha is about as reliable as healers get. Her signature move is Tea Party, where she plants a totem in front of her that heals all allies over time. Enemies can’t target it directly, although area damage can still reach it. While that totem is up, Healing Brew pours extra healing into whichever ally is lowest on health, so the hero in the most danger gets the most help.
On top of that, Foremother’s Oath speeds up the whole team, and her basic attacks even heal Martha herself. She’s easy to understand and easy to slot in. Above all, she keeps the campaign moving when your damage isn’t quite there yet.
#6 – Dorian: Healing Through Vampirism
Dorian heals in a completely different way. Initiation gives nearby allies vampirism, so your heroes recover health just by dealing damage. Fountain of Blood also marks an enemy, and every ally who hits that target heals too. The best part? Dorian keeps working even after he dies, because his vampirism stays on the team and keeps healing.
He’s also one of the cheapest heroes in the game to run. Dorian doesn’t need a full build, since most of his value sits in his skills, especially Initiation. Once those are in a good place, the resources can move on to more important heroes. Among all the Hero Wars beginner heroes, very few give this much for this little when your team needs him.
#5 – Guus: The Healer With Staying Power
If Martha is the dependable healer, Guus is the one with a bit of extra flair, and a lot of staying power. Here’s what makes him unusual: his basic attacks are aimed at his own allies. Every hit heals a teammate near the front line and hands them a Golden Feather.
That feather does two jobs. First, it heals over time. Second, if that ally is about to drop below a quarter of their health, the feather kicks in and saves them before the blow lands. Then there’s March of the Geese, where a stream of geese floods the battlefield, with golden ones healing your team and gray ones crashing into enemies and knocking them back. Guus sits near the top of our healer rankings, and that’s exactly what we want from a beginner pick: a hero who’s still pulling his weight months from now.
#4 – Fluffy: Big, Dramatic Protection
Yes, Fluffy is the little lamb with a demon living inside him. He’s a support, and his kit is all about protecting the team in big, dramatic ways. With Deal with the Devil, hellfire wraps around your whole team, making them immune to enemy basic attacks and reflecting that damage back at the attackers. There is a catch, though. The hellfire also chips away a small slice of your own heroes’ health every second, so it’s a trade, not a free lunch.
To Hell and Back is the real showstopper. For a short window, any ally who dies gets resurrected when the effect ends, with health restored and a boost to their attack for the rest of the fight. In addition, Usurpation lets Fluffy cancel an enemy’s ultimate outright when they try to use it, at the cost of some of his own health.
One honest note for new players: Fluffy isn’t someone you pick up on day one. Think of him as a target you work towards, rather than a hero you’ll have right away.
#3 – Krista: The Friendliest Magic Damage Dealer
Now we’re getting into real damage. Krista is one of the friendliest damage dealers for a new account, because her soul stones come from the campaign and the Heroic Chest. She’s a mage who fights with ice. Icy Vengeance launches ice crystals into the enemy team one after another, while Frozen Needles turns the ground under the enemy into a field of ice thorns that punish them for moving.
Chains of Frost does something every magic team loves. It temporarily lowers the enemies’ magic defense, which makes your other magic heroes hit harder too. And when she’s in danger, Crystallization wraps her in a block of ice that absorbs most of the incoming damage. Right now, magic is the stronger path for new players, so Krista gives a beginner team the punch it needs to start clearing content instead of just surviving it.
#2 – Orion: Pure Magic Pressure
Orion is pure magic pressure from the back line. Total Destruction fires a volley of magic missiles at the enemies with the most health, so he chips away at the biggest threats first. Magnetic Field drops an explosion into the enemy back line that damages and slows everyone caught in it. Antimatter Blast, meanwhile, hits the nearest enemy and stuns them.
Here’s the part beginners tend to miss. His Full Charge passive gives him extra energy with every single attack, which means his skills come around again faster than you’d expect. That adds up to damage, slows, stuns, and a quick energy cycle. Pair him with Krista weakening enemy magic defense, and it’s easy to see why he’s been a staple of magic teams for so long.
#1 – Electra: A Tank Like Nobody Else
Electra is a tank, but she plays the role like nobody else. At the start of every battle, Immortal Shell converts her armor, magic defense and dodge into strength, so she trades raw defenses for sheer bulk. Embrace of Pain then wraps her in a shield that absorbs damage while she stands still, immune to control. When it expires, it explodes, hitting nearby enemies based on how much damage it soaked up.
Oath of Protection redirects part of the damage aimed at weaker allies onto her instead. Finally, Spark of Life hits the nearest enemies while turning that damage into health for her. Just like Fluffy, Electra comes through her own event rather than the early game, so she’s a long-term goal. Even so, she pairs naturally with a magic core like Krista and Orion, and she’s the kind of hero whose value keeps growing the further we go.

Final Thoughts on Beginner Heroes
So there it is: a tank everyone gets for free, a sturdy frontliner who brings allies back, and a support who holds the team together. On top of that, you get three very different healers, a magic core in Krista and Orion, and two long-term targets in Fluffy and Electra.
None of this means the rest of the roster is useless. It simply means these ten Hero Wars beginner heroes give you the smoothest start, and the clearest direction, for the resources you have.
