Hero Wars Corvus Counters 2026
Have you ever watched your entire team get wiped by a single tank? Not a mage, not a marksman — a tank, just sitting there, while your heroes die one by one. That tank is Corvus. This is the full breakdown of every Hero Wars Corvus counters matchup: who he destroys, why it happens, and what the exceptions are before you face him or build around him.
How the Altar of Souls Works
Every Corvus counter matchup starts with one mechanic: Altar of Souls. Corvus summons an altar in the center of his team. Each time an enemy deals damage — to Corvus or any of his allies — the altar fires back with pure damage, bypassing armor, magic defense, and every other mitigation stat in the game. Crucially, it fires for every individual damage instance, not once per skill.
One hit equals one retaliation. Ten hits equals ten. Because of this, a hero who fires ten projectiles in one ultimate is essentially handing Corvus ten free pure damage attacks in rapid succession. That is why specific heroes do not just struggle here — they get eliminated almost instantly.
Hero Wars Corvus Counters List
All 18 heroes Corvus punishes in the current Dominion Era meta. Hard counter means fast elimination. Soft counter means heavy punishment but survivable. Asterisks mark matchups that flip completely with the right support.

Corvus Counters — Multi-Hit Attackers
These heroes are hard countered by Corvus through their basic attack mechanics. They do not need to use an ultimate to feed the altar — their passives and normal attacks do all the work.
Hard Counter
Dancing Blades ricochets every basic attack to all enemies — 5 altar triggers per hit. Keira self-destructs against Corvus without ever pressing her ultimate.
Hard Counter
Head Storm fires 7 buckshot rounds, each hitting all 5 heroes — up to 35 altar triggers in one ultimate. The moment she presses it against Corvus, she is done.
Hard Counter
Deadly Shower fires up to 17 arrows with ascension — 17 rapid altar retaliations in one ultimate. Artemis drops almost instantly. One ultimate, gone.
Hard Counter
Hydrokinesis ticks on multiple heroes for 6 seconds, then Tidal Wave‘s water mark amplifies every retaliation into a chain reaction. Worst matchup in the game.
Corvus Counters — Area and Sustained Damage
Skills that hit multiple targets or tick over time are where Corvus does his best work. Each hero hit and each tick is a separate altar retaliation, so these matchups escalate fast.
Hard Counter
Big Ba Boom sets all heroes on fire for 7 seconds. Every burn tick on every hero triggers the altar. She does not just die on the ultimate — she keeps feeding the altar for 7 seconds after.
Hard Counter
Iron Cyclone jolts each enemy up to 6 times with ascension. Multiply that across all heroes and one skill use generates an enormous altar trigger count simultaneously.
Hard Counter
Her built-in dodge mechanic fills energy fast so she ultimates constantly. Crystal of Celas hits all enemies — she feeds the altar on repeat throughout the entire fight.
Sustained Damage and DoT Heroes
Additionally, any hero who applies damage over time faces the same problem. Every poison tick, every burn tick, every second of a sustained skill is another altar retaliation — and it keeps going for the full duration.
Hard Counter
Solar Wind ticks against nearby heroes for 10 full seconds. Corvus retaliates the entire duration. Helios is dead well before it finishes.
Hard Counter
Queen’s Revenge and Poisonous Bonds both apply sustained poison that ticks for multiple seconds each. Every tick triggers the altar. Maya cannot survive the sustained punishment.
Hard Counter
Dance of Death hits 7 times in one cast — 7 immediate triggers. Then Embrace of Pain stacks poison up to 10 times. Every poison tick also triggers the altar. She gets punished twice over.
Hard Counter
Her hypnotic ball hits twice on travel. Wandering Lights fires 5 separate spheres — 5 individual altar triggers. Every skill use feeds the altar.
Hard Counter
Totem of Wrath fires missiles at the whole team for 6 seconds, then Hex amplifies altar damage back onto Mojo. It spirals into a feedback loop and goes down hard.
Hard Counter
Grounded spreads every basic attack to all 5 enemy heroes at 53.5% damage. Five altar triggers per basic. Augustus feeds the altar on every single auto attack throughout the fight.
Hard Counter
Underworld Seal, Infernal Rift, and Fire Breath — three area skills, all hitting multiple heroes. Every single one feeds the altar. Heavy continuous retaliation from all three.
The Dorian Exception
Two heroes on the hard counter list have a complete matchup reversal through one teammate: Dorian. Dorian grants vampirism, meaning allies heal from damage they deal. When paired with heroes who trigger the altar repeatedly, every altar retaliation starts healing them instead of killing them. The more Corvus fires back, the healthier they get.
Counter Flip
Solo, Death Flower generates up to 30 altar triggers in 3 seconds and Heidi dies instantly. With Dorian, every single retaliation heals her. The more Corvus fires back, the healthier Heidi gets. She becomes the counter, not the target.
Counter Flip
Solo, Total Destruction fires 6 missiles base — and if the target is stunned, 5 more are added for up to 11 total. Up to 11 rapid altar retaliations and Orion drops fast. With Dorian, every missile heals him after the altar fires. Orion cannot be killed by Corvus at all.
If you see Dorian on the enemy team alongside either of those heroes, Corvus is not the answer. Know your exceptions before you commit.
Soft Counters — Punished But Not Eliminated
Soft Counter
Every basic hits 2 targets, on a crit she fires 4 shots, and her ultimate hits all 5 heroes. She triggers the altar regularly and takes serious punishment throughout. But her health pool is high enough that she survives where others would not.
Soft Counter
His ultimate sends 12-plus swords crashing on the whole team — 12 rapid altar triggers. Corvus retaliates hard. But Galahad has one of the largest health pools in the game and absorbs every bit of it. Takes a beating, keeps going.
How to Play Around Hero Wars Corvus Counters
Before attacking a team with Corvus, check your roster. Keira, Ginger, Artemis, Daredevil, Cascade, Heidi, Orion, Mojo, Maya, Judge, Yasmin, Lian, Aurora, Helios, Augustus, Lilith — any of these on your attacking team is a liability. You are not just going to lose, you are going to lose fast.
On the other hand, if you are building around Corvus, you now know exactly which heroes he punishes hardest. Cascade and Keira are two of the most common heroes in the current meta, so having Corvus on your defense makes those attackers think twice before committing.
However, always keep the Dorian exception in mind. If you spot Dorian on the enemy team alongside Heidi or Orion, Corvus is not your answer for that matchup. Know your exceptions before you commit.
