Hero Wars Nightmare Abode | Somna Event Guide
The Hero Wars Nightmare Abode event puts the spotlight on Somna, the newest hero joining the roster. This special event follows a structure similar to new hero events, bringing event quests, valuable rewards, and opportunities to strengthen Somna.
This guide covers everything we know so far about the Nightmare Abode Event — from quest progression and reward priorities to resource planning and event value. Preparing early lets you maximize your rewards, avoid wasting important resources, and decide whether this event is worth investing in for your Somna teams.

Somna Event Boss Fight
At the heart of the Hero Wars Nightmare Abode event lies the Somna boss fight. Similar to the Fluffy, Lyria, Byrna, and Cascade events, this challenge is expected to focus more on survival and consistency than on pure damage.
Every chapter you clear pays out Valor Coins and Sapphire Medallions, along with other valuable resources. Those two currencies do very different jobs, and understanding the difference is the key to this event.
• Valor Coins are spent on spins at the Altar of Fate.
• The Sapphire Medallion is the grand prize on that wheel — every spin that misses it still awards 4 Somna soul stones plus extras such as Great Enchantment Runes, Exp Potions and Absolute Artifact Chests.
• The Altar of Fate is the only source of Somna soul stones. The event shop does not sell them.
• Sapphire Medallions are what you spend in the Event Shop on upgrade items and other rewards.
Each chapter gives you three lives. Lose all three and the chapter resets with no penalty, so you can retry as many times as you need. Chapter rewards are one-time only — once you have beaten a boss and collected, it will not pay out again.
You can still keep fighting after that, because wins continue to count toward your event quests. Since one quest asks for 64 battle wins, farming Chapters 1 and 2 is the fastest route — they are the easiest fights in the event and every win ticks the counter.

Somna Event Rewards: Nightmare Abode
The Somna event introduces a series of seven unique boss fights, each tied to a different chapter of the Hero Wars Nightmare Abode storyline. Each stage requires a specific number of Energy Crystals to progress, and defeating the boss grants valuable resources such as Valor Coins, Sapphire Medallions, upgrade items, skin stone chests, and other useful rewards.
Remember — the Energy Crystals shown in the table below are per chapter only, not cumulative. To unlock all buffs and claim every reward, you will need to progress through all seven chapters step by step. This structure makes the Nightmare Abode event both a resource challenge and a tactical progression path for players aiming to maximize their gains.
Somna Chapters & Rewards: Nightmare Abode
These are the seven boss-fight chapters for the Nightmare Abode event. The rewards follow the same structure as similar special hero events. Energy Crystals are per chapter, not cumulative.

1 Epic Gift of the Dominion
1 Legendary Gift of the Dominion

Somna does not start at one star and climb. She arrives at 2★, which costs 30 soul stones — roughly eight spins at the Altar of Fate. Taking her all the way to 6★ requires 630 soul stones in total.
Every one of those stones comes from the Altar of Fate. The event shop does not sell soul stones, so your Valor Coin income and your Grail of Generosity level are what really determine how far Somna can be evolved during the Nightmare Abode Event. Higher stars are a genuine power increase on this hero, so plan your spins carefully rather than stopping the moment she unlocks.
| Star | Soul Stones | Cumulative |
|---|---|---|
| ★ | 10 | 10 |
| ★★ | 20 | 30 |
| ★★★ | 50 | 80 |
| ★★★★ | 100 | 180 |
| ★★★★★ | 150 | 330 |
| ★★★★★★ | 300 | 630 |
| Total | 630 | 630 |
Somna
Valor Coins are not spent on Somna’s star upgrades directly. They buy spins at the Altar of Fate, those spins produce soul stones, and soul stones are what raise her stars. So the figures below represent how much spinning each star rank costs you.
That cost depends on your Grail of Generosity relic level, because the Grail reduces the price of each spin. The higher the relic level, the cheaper every spin becomes, and the further your Valor Coins stretch.
At lower star ranks the difference is modest. But the sixth star alone costs 300 soul stones — around 75 spins — so the reduction from Grail upgrades saves an enormous amount there. The full run from 2★ to 6★ works out at roughly 437,000 Valor Coins at Grail level 1, dropping to about 350,000 at Grail level 6. The table below shows the Valor Coin cost of each star rank at different Grail of Generosity levels:

Somna Event Relics: Nightmare Abode Event

Three relics define the Somna Event. Each provides unique benefits and upgrade paths:
- Tome of Greed: Grants extra Valor Coins whenever you spend Energy Crystals. Can be upgraded to level 15.
- Grail of Generosity: Reduces the cost of your spins at the Altar of Fate. Can be upgraded to level 18.
- Amulet of Battle: Boosts buffs during boss fights and gates chapter progression — Chapter 3 needs level 5, Chapter 4 needs level 10, Chapter 5 level 15, Chapter 6 level 20, and Chapter 7 level 25.

Upgrading relics requires strategic resource allocation, and you are not meant to max all three — the Energy Crystal budget does not stretch that far. Note also that the relic order on screen recently changed, with the Amulet of Battle moving from the bottom of the list to above the Tome of Greed, so read the panel before upgrading rather than working from memory.
Be realistic about your chapter target as well. Chapter 7 is effectively a spender’s chapter, requiring the Battle Pass plus daily charges to reach. Chapter 6 is achievable with smart play and early planning, and plenty of players sensibly stop at Chapter 5 — the crystals saved go into the Grail instead, which means cheaper spins and more soul stones.
Tome of Greed — Energy Crystal Cost & Valor Coin Bonus
Tome of Greed adds more Valor Coins for the event as you spend Energy Crystals. Each level increases your bonus by +1,000 Valor Coins. Because the bonus only applies to crystals spent after upgrading, it is best to push this relic before you start any heavy spending during the Nightmare Abode Event.
The table below lists the Energy Crystal cost per level and the total Valor Coin bonus at that level.

Grail of Generosity Upgrade Costs
The Grail of Generosity relic in the Nightmare Abode Event reduces the cost of each spin at the Altar of Fate. Every level you upgrade lowers the price, taking it from 2,800 Valor Coins down to 1,000 at level 18, which allows your Valor Coins to stretch far further. Since upgrading requires Energy Crystals, it is important to know exactly how much you will need at each stage.
Because the Altar of Fate is the only source of Somna soul stones, cheaper spins translate directly into more spins and more stones. The table below lists the Energy Crystal cost per level and the spin cost reduction you unlock.

Energy Crystal Requirements For Boss Fight: Hero Wars Nightmare Abode Event
Reaching Chapter 7 in the Nightmare Abode Event requires the Amulet of Battle at level 25, which costs 790 Energy Crystals cumulatively. With chapter-by-chapter breakdowns available, players can calculate exactly how much they need before spending.
Decide your realistic chapter ceiling first, then budget backwards. Whatever Energy Crystals remain after paying for that target are what the Tome of Greed and Grail of Generosity have to share.

Somna Event Battle Pass: Nightmare Abode Event

The Somna Event also features a Battle Pass, with free rewards at every level and a Golden Pass covering the premium track. There is no skin included in this pass, so do not buy the Golden track expecting a Somna skin — the Somna Solar skin is a separate release, available exclusively on 24 July.
- Free rewards are available at each level.
- The Golden Pass unlocks premium rewards, including significantly larger Energy Crystal drops — 50 per drop against 10 on the free track, across three drops.
- Those Energy Crystals are a major source of fuel for the deeper chapters.

Somna Event Quests
The Nightmare Abode Event includes two sets of quests:
Nightmare Abode
These are your core objectives for the event. Each line shows the maximum progress that counts toward rewards. Note that Stall Coins and Sapphire Medallions are event currencies, so most of these quests can only be progressed once the event is live — the main exception is Emeralds, where both buying and spending count, so it pays to hold any planned Emerald spending until the event opens.
- Win battles in the Nightmare Abode event — MAX 64
Clear fights on the event map and in boss encounters. Each win moves the counter; caps at 64. Farming Chapters 1 and 2 is the fastest way to progress this one. - Buy Emerald — MAX 120,000
Any Emerald purchase contributes up to a total of 120,000. - Spend Emerald — MAX 150,000
Use Emeralds on your usual priorities; only the first 150,000 spent are counted. - Buy any pet in the Hero Stall — MAX 10
