Hero Wars Server Merge Guide 2026
A Hero Wars server merge is coming on August 16, and for the servers involved it’s more than routine maintenance — it’s a competitive reset. Rankings restart, some records are wiped for good, and anyone with two accounts has a real decision to make. This Hero Wars Server Merge Guide covers everything you need to handle before the 16th — what changes, what you can lose, and how to protect it — followed by the official FAQ.
What a Server Merge Actually Is
A server merge combines two or more servers into one. Everyone from those separate worlds ends up sharing the same server, and the map, leaderboards, Guild War bracket, and rankings all merge into a single competitive environment.
On August 16, the developers are doing exactly that for a selected group of servers. Not every server is affected, so the first thing to do is confirm whether yours is on the list. If it is, expect a short maintenance window where you won’t be able to log in while the merge runs.
Why the Merge Is Happening
The reasoning is straightforward: bring more activity to quieter servers. Combining less active worlds with busier ones creates a larger, healthier player base — more guilds to join, more opponents to challenge, a stronger in-game economy, and more competition overall. On paper, that’s a clear win.
It’s fair to weigh the scale, though. When a large group of servers — in some cases up to eight — is combined into one, a bigger population helps dead servers, but it also means tougher competition, crowded rankings, and a lot of established players suddenly fighting over the same top spots. Whether that reads as a healthier game or just a harder one really depends on where you sit. It’s a trade-off, not automatically good or bad.
Either way, this isn’t something that happens quietly in the background. A merge brings resets, account decisions, and firm deadlines — so treat the rest of this guide as a checklist to finish before August 16.
What the Merge Costs You
Competitive resets
Guild War rankings reset, and so do Arena and Grand Arena rankings. The developers soften the blow — you’ll still receive four weeks of Guild War rewards based on your final placement before the merge, and Arena and Grand Arena weekly rewards are paid out according to your last ranking. But once the new server opens, everyone starts climbing from scratch.
Battle logs wiped for good
Some data disappears entirely. Your Clash of Worlds Battle Log is wiped after the merge, along with the Guild Raid Battle Log — including your Minion and Asgard boss attack records for the current week. Once those logs are deleted, they can’t be recovered, so export anything you want to keep beforehand.
The one-character rule
If you have characters on both merging servers, you can only keep one. You choose which survives, and the other is permanently deleted. The good news: you’ll receive Emerald compensation equal to every payment made on the deleted account, so your purchases aren’t lost. But any mail left on that account disappears with it. And if you use your Transfer Ticket to leave before the merge, you won’t be able to transfer back to a merging server until the entire merge process is complete.
What to Watch Out For
Confirm your server is actually included. Before anything else, make sure your server is on the merge list — you can check in seconds with our Hero Wars server merge checker. If it isn’t on the list, none of the rest applies to you.
Guild Masters, check your account carefully. If the account you keep isn’t your Guild Master character, leadership automatically passes to the next eligible member in the guild hierarchy. If you run multiple accounts, make sure the one you’re keeping is the one holding the Guild Master position.
Mind the Clash of Worlds detail. The current Clash of Worlds season continues normally — the merge and Guild War reset won’t interrupt it. However, qualifying for the next season still requires reaching Silver or Gold League in Guild War. Since Guild War rankings reset after the merge, every guild has to earn that position again.
What to Do Before August 16
- Export your battle history now. Both the Clash of Worlds Battle Log and the Guild Raid Battle Log are erased during the merge, and once they’re gone there’s no getting them back.
- Deal with any duplicate accounts. If you have characters on both merging servers, you have two options: let the extra account be deleted and take the Emerald compensation for every payment made on it, or use your free Transfer Ticket to move that character to an eligible older server and keep it. Neither is objectively better — it depends on what you value. Just remember any mail on a deleted account is gone forever, so transferring is the only way to preserve those rewards.
- Sort out your Transfer Ticket if you’re opting out. Every affected player has already received a free Transfer Ticket in their in-game mail. It lets you move your character to an eligible older server at no cost. Per the official FAQ, there’s currently no expiration on the extra transfer once you claim it — but claim it from your mail so it’s on your account. To use it, open your profile, tap Change Server, and pick your destination. Once you transfer away, you can’t return to a merging server until the merge is fully complete.
- Climb your rankings while they still count. Because Guild War, Arena, and Grand Arena rewards are based on your final rankings before the merge, push those ladders as high as you can before maintenance begins.
Preparing Yourself and Your Guild
For individual players, the checklist is simple: verify your server, decide what to do with any duplicate accounts, export the battle logs you want to keep, and climb your rankings before they reset. Handle those four things and you’ll enter the new server with everything that matters protected.
For guilds, it takes more coordination — but the good news is your guild stays together through the merge. Members aren’t separated automatically. Guild Masters should confirm the correct account is being carried over so leadership doesn’t transfer unintentionally, and it’s worth telling members about the battle log reset, duplicate-account decisions, and Transfer Ticket details early rather than letting people discover them too late.
The whole-guild transfer strategy
There’s another option worth considering. Since every affected player gets a free Transfer Ticket, your entire guild could skip the merge and relocate together to the same eligible older server, rebuilding on your own terms. A coordinated, established guild arriving together can have a huge advantage.
That said, don’t assume you’ll be the only guild with that idea. Every affected server hands out the same free ticket, so plenty of organized guilds may be eyeing those older servers too — a server that looks quiet today could get a lot more competitive once transfers start. If this is your plan, agree on a destination early and move together before everyone else lands on the same one.
Understand the Clash of Worlds trade-off before you commit
This is the real catch. If you keep your guild together through the merge, you stay in the current Clash of Worlds season and keep competing without missing a beat. But if you scatter and relocate with individual tickets, you can’t carry the guild with you — you’ll build a new one from scratch, start at the bottom of Guild War, and climb all the way back to Silver or Gold League before you can enter Clash of Worlds again, which likely means sitting out a season while you rebuild. That’s the trade: a clean fresh start on a quieter server, paid for with your Clash of Worlds standing.
Whichever route you take, once the merge is done and Guild War starts over, make reaching Silver or Gold your guild’s top priority. The faster you climb back, the better your odds of qualifying for the next Clash of Worlds season.
Official Server Merge FAQ
The developers have published an official FAQ answering the most common questions about the merge. Here’s what they confirmed.
Does the Transfer Ticket sit in your inventory? Does it stay if you don’t use it?
It doesn’t show up as a separate item. Once you claim it from your mail, it adds one extra free server transfer to your account — so if you already had one free transfer available, you’ll have two after claiming. There’s currently no expiration on that extra transfer.
When exactly is the merge, and how long is the downtime?
The merge is scheduled for August 16. Affected servers stay available until the merge process begins, then go temporarily offline. Maintenance is expected to start around 9:00–10:00 CST and take roughly 4–5 hours — the length is mainly down to the number of servers involved. They’ll aim to finish as quickly as possible.
After the merge, which servers can you transfer to? What counts as your origin server?
Available transfer destinations are based on the server your character was transferred from, not the server it was moved to as part of the merge. In other words, your pre-merge server is still treated as your origin for transfer purposes, and the usual restrictions — including server-age limits — still apply based on that origin.
What rate is used when Emeralds are returned to your main character?
There’s no single fixed conversion rate. The amount sent back to your main is worked out through a calculation involving several variables, with VIP points among the main factors.

Does your in-game mail stay intact?
Yes. Your mail transfers with your character. If you have two or more characters, the mail stays on the one you choose to keep.

Why were these specific servers chosen?
They selected groups of older servers with relatively low activity and similar average player power. The aim is to combine them into a healthy, active, nearly full server with a strong population and fair competition — the same logic used in previous merges.
What happens to your artifact keys?
The merge won’t affect your artifact keys.

Will some guilds no longer reach Silver League and lose Clash of Worlds access? (not part of the official FAQ — answered directly by the community manager)
Yes — that’s a real and expected outcome. With multiple servers combining, far more active guilds will be competing for the same number of Silver and Gold League spots that existed before, so reaching those leagues (and qualifying for Clash of Worlds) will get noticeably harder for some guilds. It isn’t an oversight; it’s the expected result of recreating full-server competition. The team says they’ll keep an eye on how it affects Clash of Worlds access going forward.
Final Word
That covers everything you need to know before the server merge. Confirm whether your server is affected, protect what matters — your battle logs, your main account, your rankings — and you’ll step into the new server with an advantage instead of a regret. The earlier you and your guild lock in these decisions, the smoother August 16 will be.
