How to get Explorer Moves | Hero Wars Dominion Era

How to get Explorer Moves

If you have ever wondered how to get Explorer Moves — and, more importantly, how to stop burning them the moment they land in your inventory — this guide is built for you. Every month on Mysterious Island, thousands of commanders make the same mistake. They spot a stretch of unexplored tiles, notice a few Explorer’s Moves sitting in reserve, and start clicking. One tile, then another, then another, until the Moves are gone and the rewards that actually mattered are still sitting somewhere out of reach.

Here is the part most players never internalize: you do not have to spend those Moves at all. Instead, you can save them, build a stockpile, wait for the right map, and strike only when the rewards are truly worth taking. Once that clicks, Explorer’s Moves stop being something you spend on reflex and become something you manage.

What Explorer’s Moves Actually Are

Explorer’s Moves are the currency you spend to uncover tiles on the Mysterious Island map during a Seasonal Adventure. Once your account reaches Team Level 30, the feature unlocks, and every hex you reveal costs a single Move. Those tiles can lead toward Artifact Spheres, Emeralds, upgrade materials, War Flags, Towers, and plenty more.

However, not every tile carries the same value, and that distinction sits at the heart of this whole guide. Regular tiles hand out randomized rewards, while Towers deliver fixed, high-value payouts. So if you walk onto the island and simply open whatever sits in front of you, you are not planning a route — you are gambling with a limited resource. Because your supply runs dry eventually, every wasted tile can become the difference between reaching a valuable Tower and finishing one Move short.

The Island Never Stays the Same

There is another layer worth remembering, because the island does not stay frozen in place. Normally a fresh Mysterious Island map arrives each month, and on top of that, major seasonal events such as the Summer Festival and Winter Festival bring their own special maps. New Hero and Titan releases can introduce unique layouts as well.

That means different maps, different layouts, and wildly different reward value for your Moves. Keep it in mind, since it becomes the entire basis for the save-versus-spend strategy later on.

How to Get Explorer Moves Without Spending a Cent

If you play completely free, you can still stack up a respectable pile of Moves. Your primary engine is Season progression. As you clear daily quests, three-day quests, and weekly quests, you earn Season Experience, which pushes you through the Season levels — and certain milestones pay out Explorer’s Moves.

There is an important nuance here, though. You do not receive Moves every single day. What arrives consistently is the Season Experience that eventually carries you to the levels where those Moves are waiting. That detail makes your daily quests far more valuable than they first appear. Miss them, and your Season progression slows; let it slow enough, and you may end the Season having reached fewer Move milestones than you could have. For free-to-play commanders, then, consistency is rule number one — clear the quests, bank the experience, and keep climbing.

Special events are the next place to look. Across the year, occasions like the Summer Festival add extra chances to collect Moves through event quests, generators, and other event-specific systems. Because these windows are temporary, do not stop at the headline rewards when an event opens. Instead, dig into the quest chains, the Battle Pass, and the event systems, since there are often easy Moves tucked away where most players never glance.

Paid Sources That Boost Your Explorer’s Moves

If you are willing to invest, the totals climb a lot faster, and knowing how to get Explorer Moves from the paid tracks helps you decide what is actually worth it. The first option is the Golden Ticket, which opens the additional Season reward track. Alongside all the extra Hero, Titan, and progression rewards, it also hands out additional Explorer’s Moves — so if you are already buying it for everything else, treat those Moves as part of the package.

The option that matters most to commanders who regularly push deep into maps, though, is the Seasonal Adventure Subscription. It grants two Explorer’s Moves every day it stays active, plus a one-time bundle of Emeralds and VIP Points. There are three durations to choose from:

Duration Explorer’s Moves Emeralds VIP Points Extra
1 Week 14 (2 per day) 1,200 1,200
4 Weeks 56 (2 per day) 5,000 5,000
8 Weeks 112 (2 per day) 10,000 10,000 Exclusive avatar frame

One detail I really like: if you forget to collect on a given day, those Moves are not deleted. Instead, they accumulate and wait for you, so missing a day or two never means throwing away part of what you paid for.

More Moves Hiding Inside Events

Those subscriptions are not the end of it. Area of Conquest chips in too — simply participating gives you two Explorer’s Moves, and taking its Battle Pass raises that total to eight. Seasonal events then stack on even more, and during the Summer Festival the free Battle Pass alone can hand over another two.

Winter Festival is where things get genuinely interesting. From December 21st through December 31st, daily logins can grant one Explorer’s Move each day, which adds up to as many as eleven Moves just for showing up. Additional Moves are tied to completing eight qualifying purchases during the event — think Emeralds, special offers, or skins — and even the Transformation gift packages traded between guildmates can contain Moves. So if your guild stays active through Winter Festival, coordinate those exchanges, because there is more value hidden in them than most people realize.

For heavier spenders, one more source is worth remembering: the Seer’s game awards twenty Explorer’s Moves once you hit 5,000 VIP Points. Add every one of these streams together, and the pool available across a single Season turns out to be far larger than it looks at first glance.

The Real Skill Is Knowing When to Save

Collecting Moves is only half the game. Here is the piece that actually separates strong commanders from the rest: Explorer’s Moves carry over. When one Seasonal Adventure ends, your unused Moves do not vanish — you keep them into the next one. That single fact changes the entire question you should be asking. It is no longer “how many tiles can I open this month?” but rather “is this map even worth my Moves?”

Picture a map loaded with rewards your account does not need. You could burn fifty Moves on it just because it is there — or you could do nothing at all and hold the line. Then a stronger map arrives, stacked with Emeralds, valuable Towers, materials you are desperate for, or an unusually efficient route. Instead of walking in with the handful of Moves you scraped together that month, you show up with an army of them and push straight to the rewards other players cannot reach. That is the whole difference between collecting resources and managing them, because a weak map does not deserve your stockpile simply because it exists. In short: save on weak maps, attack strong ones.

How to Attack a Map the Right Way

Once you decide a map has earned your Moves, resist the urge to click randomly. Start by studying the Towers, since those are your fixed, guaranteed rewards, and then work backward from whatever you want most. Map the shortest efficient route to it, collect the wood you will need for bridges along the way, and grab bonus-Move tiles whenever they genuinely improve your path.

One unnecessary detour looks harmless on its own. Stack five of them, though, and you have spent five Explorer’s Moves — which can easily become the gap between claiming the final Tower and staring at it from across the map as the timer runs out. That is exactly why we post updated Mysterious Island maps and routes on the Olympus site whenever new Adventures drop. Rather than guessing your way across the island, check the map, lock in your destination, plan the route, and only then start spending.

Three Questions Before You Open Any Tile

So before your finger drifts toward that next tile, run through three quick questions:

  • Do I actually need the rewards on this particular map?
  • Do I already know which Towers I am targeting?
  • Would these Moves be worth more to me on the next map?

If you cannot answer all three with confidence, keep your hand still. Instead, bank the Moves, wait for the opportunity, and when the right map finally appears — that is when you strike. Ultimately, the smartest commander is not the one hoarding the most Explorer’s Moves; it is the one who knows exactly when not to use them.

Now you know how to get Explorer Moves from nearly every corner of the game — Season levels, daily quests, special events, Area of Conquest, and the paid tracks if you choose to invest. Even so, none of it matters if you spend carelessly once the Moves are in hand. Know the map, know the prize, and never spend simply because you can.
