Lara Croft Explained | Hero Wars Alliance
Lara Croft Explained is our next stop in the Hero Wars Alliance Tips Series, and honestly, she’s one of the most unusual Heroes we’ve covered so far. Many Guardians don’t own her, and nobody knows for sure when (or even if) she’ll be obtainable again. Still, this series has one goal: cover every Hero in the game. So Lara belongs here too, especially now that Eva has arrived and given us fresh reasons to look at what she actually brings to a team.
Because here’s the thing: Lara isn’t simply a marksman who shoots very hard. Instead, she’s an explorer whose power keeps evolving throughout the battle. Damage, Critical Hits, healing, control, fast Energy generation and a one-of-a-kind Artifact mechanic all come together in her kit. As a result, she becomes more dangerous the longer the enemy lets her operate.
Lara Croft Explained: The Relic Ultimate and Double Shots
Let’s start with the foundation. After discovering an ancient relic, Lara activates its power and brings the might of the tombs into battle. All enemies take physical damage, while all allies under the relic receive healing. In other words, her ultimate isn’t purely offensive — it pressures the whole enemy team and sustains her own side at the same time.
However, the passive part of this skill is where things get really interesting. Lara fires two shots with every basic attack, and each shot grants the normal 100 Energy from a basic attack. That means she generates Energy twice as fast through regular attacks, with Yasmine being the only exception. On top of that, the Energy from the second shot isn’t treated as bonus Energy.
So after only five basic attacks, Lara can already have enough Energy for her ultimate. That’s a massive part of how she operates. Rather than just adding extra damage, those two shots accelerate the entire cycle of her first skill — and, as we’ll see shortly, every extra activation of that skill makes her stronger.
300% Critical Hits: Where Her Damage Spikes
Next up are her Critical Hits. As Lara’s focus increases, her Critical Hit Chance goes up as well. Even better, her Critical Hit Damage rises from the standard 200 percent to 300 percent.
That’s a huge difference. A successful crit no longer just doubles the damage; it now deals three times the nominal value. Since Lara is a physical attacker, this creates enormous damage potential once her Critical Hit Chance starts working consistently. That’s also why Heroes who support Critical Hits become so valuable next to her — and we’ll come back to Sebastian on that point later.
Steady Shot: A Three-Second Stun
Lara isn’t limited to her pistols, though. She also pulls out the bow and fires at the central enemy, creating an explosion that damages everyone in its radius and stuns them for three seconds.
This part of her kit shouldn’t be overlooked. A three-second stun can interrupt an enemy cycle, delaying both attacks and skills, and it can completely change the outcome of a key moment in the fight. There’s also a neat interaction against Dodge-reliant Heroes: once stunned, they can’t move, which gives Lara a much better chance to land her physical attacks.
So, just looking at the list so far, she accelerates her own Energy, boosts her crit potential up to 300 percent damage, hits the whole enemy team, heals her allies and brings a three-second stun. Yet none of that is the craziest part of Lara Croft.
Lost Knowledge: The Artifact Mechanic That Changes Everything
The real magic comes when Lara finds the Lost Knowledge. Every time she uses her first skill, she permanently increases her own Physical Attack. At the same time, she unearths a random Artifact shard and embeds it into her Weapon Artifact. After that, later uses of her first skill can additionally activate the effects of every Artifact she has unearthed.
The possible bonuses are extensive, and importantly, they cannot repeat. Furthermore, the starting power of each bonus depends on the current level of Lara’s Weapon Artifact.
How the Snowball Builds
Now think about how all of this connects. Because every first-skill activation permanently raises Lara’s Physical Attack, the longer she operates, the stronger she gets. Her basic attacks benefit, her crits become more threatening, and her Steady Shot hits harder. Even the healing tied to her ultimate scales up as her Physical Attack keeps growing.
This is exactly why those double shots matter so much. Faster Energy means more ultimates, and more ultimates mean more Lost Knowledge growth. Meanwhile, the random Artifact effects don’t replace one another — they accumulate. As a result, her Weapon Artifact can eventually provide a spread of bonuses that would normally take several different Heroes to supply.
That’s the explorer identity translated directly into gameplay. She keeps discovering something new, adding it to her arsenal and becoming more dangerous with every find. The full package is very complete, very unique, and extremely dangerous if she’s given enough time to develop.
Best Synergies for Lara Croft in Hero Wars Alliance
Of course, understanding the Hero is only half the story. We also need to know which Heroes help her do what she does best, and after recent changes and additions, Lara has some very interesting friends.
Julius
Julius offers exactly the protection a Hero like Lara wants. His powerful Shields keep her alive while she builds Energy and grows her Physical Attack. In addition, he can accelerate protected Heroes and provide healing, and with his Relics he can remove marks, debuffs, negative effects and control effects. That’s huge, since every second Lara spends locked down is a second she isn’t shooting, gaining Energy or progressing toward her next ultimate.
Sebastian
This pairing is easy to understand. Lara is heavily built around Critical Hits, and Sebastian can protect her against control effects like stuns and curses while making her crits significantly more dangerous. For a Hero whose Critical Hit Damage already reaches 300 percent, supporting that crit structure is extremely appealing.
Eva
Eva is one of the biggest reasons we’re revisiting Lara right now, because she can turn Lara’s bullets into missiles. Remember, Lara doesn’t fire one bullet per basic attack — she fires two. Therefore, the interaction between these two Heroes is immediately worth exploring.
Fafnir
Fafnir can increase Lara’s Physical Attack while also forging his Runic Shield to protect her. Once again, that supports both sides of what she needs: staying active on the field and boosting the Physical Attack that powers so much of her kit.
Tristan
Finally, there’s Tristan, the Armor Penetration machine. Lara generates enormous physical pressure, but that pressure still has to get through enemy defenses. Tristan gives her the Armor Penetration support to bypass those defenses far more effectively.
Final Thoughts: Should You Care About Lara?
To be clear, we aren’t telling Guardians who don’t own Lara to build around a Hero they can’t currently get. That’s not the point of this guide. Rather, the purpose of this series is to understand every Hero. And if you already have her, knowing what she actually does matters even more now, since the environment around her keeps shifting with new Heroes, new Relics and new synergies — Eva being the latest reason to revisit those two basic shots.
With Lara Croft explained from top to bottom, the picture is clear. She opens the battle as an extremely dangerous marksman, but she doesn’t stay there. Thanks to her rapid Energy, 300 percent crits, team healing, three-second stun and ever-growing Lost Knowledge, the longer the expedition lasts, the more treasure she finds. Unfortunately for the enemy team, those treasures become weapons.
