Top Tempus Teams Guides | Hero Wars Alliance
This Top Tempus Teams Guides post covers everything you need to know about running him after the relic update. Tempus was already a strong control hero before relics arrived — but now he feels like a completely different tier of threat. More oppressive, more disruptive, and more capable of controlling the rhythm of a fight from start to finish. We are breaking down three of the best Tempus teams in Hero Wars Alliance right now, each one maximizing a different part of his kit, and showing exactly why this hero has become one of the most important investments in the game.
What Relics Did for Tempus
Tempus was never designed to be a simple damage dealer. His identity has always been about momentum — slowing enemies, accelerating allies, extending debuffs, and forcing opponents into situations where they simply cannot execute their game plan correctly. Relics amplified every single part of that identity.
- Team-wide Magic Penetration gives his allies far more offensive pressure through Chrono Field.
- Increased Withering area means his debuffs affect fights more consistently across the whole enemy line.
- Time Paradox now adds real damage pressure during his control windows, not just battlefield manipulation.
- At the highest relic level, Tempus retaliates automatically when enemies attempt to control him — which means the very heroes designed to stop him can end up triggering his own control back onto themselves.
That last mechanic alone completely changes how many match-ups play out. He is especially frustrating for physical attackers, aggressive compositions, and teams relying on fast tempo and immediate execution. There is a reason Tristan has become far less common recently, and Tempus is a significant part of that story.
Team 1 — Control and Suffocation: Astaroth, Xe’Sha, Aidan, Lian and Tempus
This first team completely rejects the modern “kill instantly” philosophy that currently dominates the meta. Instead of exploding into action immediately, it survives the first wave, stabilizes, and then slowly takes complete control of the battlefield until the opponent can no longer recover.
How This Team Works
The AXA core — Astaroth, Xe’Sha and Aidan — already brings one of the strongest scaling interactions in the game through sacrifice mechanics. Xe’Sha converts Health into terrifying amounts of Magic Attack while Aidan constantly manipulates sustain and survivability across the team. Add Tempus into that equation and the synergy becomes even more oppressive.
Time Paradox increases maximum Health for all allies while simultaneously slowing enemies and accelerating your own team. That extra maximum Health becomes extremely valuable because Xe’Sha converts it directly into even more offensive pressure through her own skills. The longer the fight lasts, the stronger this team becomes.
The Role of Lian
Lian is the piece that transforms this line from strong into genuinely frustrating. She directly interferes with many of the most aggressive meta heroes in the game. Kayla, Peech, Polaris, Iris — all of them can suddenly lose momentum the moment Lian’s control starts activating. Her Enchantments interrupt attacks, punish aggression, and create breathing room for the rest of the team to stabilize. Meanwhile Tempus keeps extending debuffs, slowing enemies, and manipulating tempo constantly.
This team does not rush. It suffocates. On defense in particular, it becomes extremely difficult to break because one mistake against this composition usually means losing momentum permanently.

Team 2 — Pure Offensive Destruction: Electra, Tempus, Soleil, Iris and Polaris
The second team goes in the completely opposite direction. This is not a slow control line. This is destruction — pure offensive pressure layered with constant debuffs and battlefield lockdown. Tempus sits right at the center of all of it.
How This Team Works
This composition operates like a chain reaction. Soleil strips Magic Defense from the enemy line. Iris amplifies pressure through devastating damage output. Electra constantly disrupts and weakens enemies. Tempus extends debuffs and amplifies allied Magic Penetration across the team. And Polaris ensures enemies barely get the opportunity to respond at all.
The layered pressure here becomes overwhelming very quickly. Magic Defense disappears. Debuffs stack endlessly. Control chains begin. And Iris suddenly starts deleting entire teams before they can stabilize.
Why This Composition Is So Explosive
What makes this team truly terrifying is that it remains safe even after the initial burst window. Polaris and Tempus together create a safety net of constant control — enemies are slowed, enemies are stunned, and enemies lose access to their own timing. When that happens against a team with this much damage, the fight usually ends immediately.
This might genuinely be one of the most explosive offensive teams currently available in Hero Wars Alliance, and Tempus is one of the main reasons the composition functions so smoothly.

Team 3 — The Scaling Wall: Mushy, Byrna, Tempus, Somna and Alvanor
The third team shifts direction again and returns to a slower, scaling approach — but with a very different style of pressure. This composition revolves around growth, momentum, and overwhelming sustain.
How This Team Works
Mushy absolutely loves the additional maximum Health provided by both Tempus and Byrna because she needs time to become unstoppable. Early in fights she can sometimes feel vulnerable before her damage fully ramps up — and this team exists specifically to protect that growth period. Tempus slows enemies down while increasing allied tempo. Alvanor adds healing, defensive support and additional sustain. Byrna reinforces survivability while amplifying the overall scaling potential of the composition.
Tempus’s new relic interactions amplify Mushy’s output massively. The additional Magic Penetration from Chrono Field increases her damage significantly. The enhanced Withering effect weakens the entire enemy line rather than isolated targets. And Time Paradox constantly manipulates battlefield rhythm while damaging enemies trapped inside it.
Somna Adds the Final Layer
Somna brings even more disruption, more control, and more pressure through Crushing support and defensive interference. The opponent ends up trapped fighting through layers of healing, slows, debuffs, control, and scaling damage while Mushy slowly transforms into an unstoppable wrecking ball of Mycelium.
This team does not care about early panic. It cares about inevitability. Once it reaches full momentum, it becomes incredibly difficult to stop.
