Julius Relics Explained | Hero Wars Alliance
This is Julius Relics Explained, the follow-up now that we have spent real time with the Relics instead of just reading the descriptions. After our first look, the question is no longer simply “are Julius Relics good?” Instead, the real question is how far you should actually take them in Hero Wars Alliance.
Julius was already a meta Hero before these Relics arrived. He was heavily used, extremely valuable, and a core piece of some of the strongest defensive structures in the game. So we won’t pretend that every one of the four Relic levels completely transforms him, because they don’t. Rather, we’ll go level by level, showing what each Relic adds, where the important breakpoints begin, and where Julius reaches the point that can change what your team is capable of doing.
Level 1: Pawsitive Influence
Pawsitive Influence is a completely new skill. Every 13 seconds, Julius grants a Shield to the most injured ally, and the more Health that ally has already lost, the stronger that Shield becomes.
From what we’ve seen in battle, it works. In fact, it’s effective protection, particularly when a Hero is already under pressure, since Julius picks out the most injured ally and adds another defensive layer at exactly the moment they may need it. There’s nothing bad about this Relic.
However, we have to keep it in perspective. Julius was already providing protection, and Shields were already central to his identity. As a result, Level 1 makes him better at something he was already very good at, but it isn’t the Relic that changes him. In short, if you only reach Level 1, you’ve improved Julius. You haven’t transformed him.
Level 10: Meowsterpiece of Defense
At Legendary Relic Level 10, Meowsterpiece of Defense receives its Legendary upgrade. Whenever a Shield is destroyed or expires, the Hero who was protected by it recovers Health. On top of that, the healing is doubled for Way of Progress Heroes.
Now we’re adding something Julius teams really appreciate: sustainability. Moreover, this becomes even more interesting once you stop looking at Julius on his own and start looking at what’s happening across the Progress faction.
The Nebula Connection
Take Nebula as an example. Her Level 10 Legendary Relic upgrade to Serenity removes negative effects and heals herself and her allies. Meanwhile, Julius is bringing extra healing through his Shields, with Progress Heroes receiving double value from it.
Traditionally, Progress survived through control and stuns. Now, though, Relics are introducing more direct answers to negative effects, one of the biggest problems these teams face, while also adding healing. That combination matters, because you’re not only stopping the enemy from acting. You’re also helping your own team recover and keep fighting.
So Level 10 is absolutely a meaningful stopping point. If your resources are limited, we understand stopping here, especially if you’re building with Progress Heroes and other Relics that complement what Julius does.
Level 20: Nine-Lives Engine – The Real Breakpoint
If you’re asking where Julius Relics become truly serious, our answer changes here. In our opinion, Legendary Relic Level 20 is the crucial breakpoint.
Nine-Lives Engine receives its Legendary upgrade, and the mechanic sounds simple: whenever Julius or an ally gains a Shield, all negative effects are removed from that Hero. Still, don’t read that sentence too quickly. The words “or an ally” make an enormous difference, because the effect isn’t tied to one specific Julius Shield.
In other words, the team structure around Julius suddenly becomes extremely important. Any Hero capable of creating Shields can potentially become part of a continuous cleansing system.
Every Shield Becomes a Trigger
This is where old doors can reopen. For instance, we’ve seen defensive foundations built around Rufus and Julius before, and Rufus is capable of producing Shields constantly. Put that beside Level 20 Julius: a Shield goes up and negative effects are removed, then another Shield goes up and they’re removed again.
Suddenly, the value of a Shield isn’t just the damage it absorbs. The Shield itself becomes a trigger, which is a completely different level of synergy. Rufus is only one example, too, since Judge, Isaac, Astaroth and Aidan all bring Shields worth a fresh look.
The key point is that Julius doesn’t have to create every Shield personally. Therefore, when you build around Level 20 Julius, every Shield source on your roster deserves another look. Instead of only asking “who works with Julius?”, you can start asking “who can keep creating Shields around Julius?”
That’s why we consider Level 20 the minimum target if you’re seriously investing in Julius. Levels 1 and 10 aren’t weak, of course. But for a Hero who was already meta, a mechanic that repeatedly removes negative effects through something his teams already love doing pushes his potential much further. Protection is one thing, whereas protection that also cleans negative effects over and over is something else entirely.
Level 30: Defensive Lunge
Then there’s Level 30, and it changes the conversation again. After protection, healing and negative-effect removal, Julius finally receives an offensive weapon.
Defensive Lunge is a completely new skill. While Julius or his allies have a Shield, their Armor Penetration is increased for each active Shield. Consequently, everything we’ve discussed gains an offensive side: Shields protect you, contribute to healing at Level 10, remove negative effects at Level 20, and now boost Armor Penetration at Level 30.
Tristan and Drayne Turn Defense into Pressure
One Hero immediately becomes extremely interesting here: Tristan. He can already provide enormous Armor Penetration, and his own Level 30 Relic creates another offensive relationship involving Armor Penetration and damage. Pair him with Julius and you’re combining a Shield ecosystem that raises Armor Penetration with a Hero who already drives it to extreme levels.
Furthermore, bring Drayne into that structure and Crushing joins the offensive equation. At that point, Julius isn’t just the tank standing in front protecting everyone. Rather, he’s part of an ecosystem where one defensive mechanic keeps the team alive, removes negative effects and feeds the offensive pressure of the Heroes behind him.
There’s also a reality we shouldn’t hide, though. Level 30 Julius alongside a highly developed Tristan, Drayne and other built-up Heroes is not a cheap team. It’s a structure that needs serious resources, and that’s exactly why understanding the stopping points matters.
Julius Relics Explained: Where Should You Stop?
Here’s the full breakdown at a glance, so you can match your investment to how important Julius is on your account.
To sum it up: protection at Level 1, sustainability at Level 10, the major turning point at Level 20, and offensive aggression at Level 30.
Final Verdict
With Julius Relics explained level by level, the big picture is clear. Julius was already meta, so these Relics didn’t need to rescue him. Instead, they gave an already powerful Hero more ways to influence everything around him. Perhaps the most important part isn’t Julius himself but what these Relics let us build around him, with Rufus, Judge, Isaac, Astaroth, Aidan, Nebula, Tristan and Drayne all opening different possibilities depending on how far you develop the structure.
If you’re building Julius casually, Level 10 already gives you something meaningful. On the other hand, if Julius is one of the foundations of your account, Level 20 is where we’d want to be. And if you have the resources for the complete package of protection, healing, negative-effect removal and Armor Penetration, Level 30 opens the final door.
With these interactions now available, team building is the next step, and there are some combinations we absolutely want to put under pressure. Where are your Julius Relics right now, and which combination should we test next?
