Luther Guus Brawl Teams | Hero Wars Alliance
Our Luther Guus Brawl Teams turned out to be one of the most interesting discoveries we made during the current Brawls in Hero Wars Alliance. Instead of running one battle and posting a big damage number, we tested this pairing again and again, against different opponents and in different situations. As a result, we ended up with a core that kept impressing us, plus two versions of the same team that attack in completely different ways.
Before anything else, one quick note: this is not our Luther rework guide. Luther deserves his own full analysis, and that video and post are coming. Today, however, Brawls are live, so we want to focus on the combination itself while you still have the perfect place to test it.
Meet the LuGu Core
At the center of everything sit two Heroes: Luther and Guus. Since every combination eventually needs a name, we’re calling this one the LuGu Core. Simple enough — Luther plus Guus.
From there, we found a structure that worked extremely well for us. We then built two versions where only one Hero changes:
- Version 1: Luther, Yasmine, Crow, Tristan and Guus
- Version 2: Luther, Drayne, Crow, Tristan and Guus
Everything stays exactly the same except Yasmine and Drayne. Even so, that single swap gives us two very different ways of attacking while the LuGu foundation stays in place.
Why Guus Is the Engine Behind the Structure
Guus is a Hero we’ve been discussing a lot recently, and for good reason. His Golden Feathers create an incredible support environment for a team, bringing healing, Critical Hit interaction and additional protection. On top of that, his Legendary Relics make that environment even more interesting:
- Level 1 – Featherhood: periodically grants a Golden Feather to Guus himself and to the ally with the highest Health stat.
- Level 10 – Beak Peak: gains Critical Healing, so healing from Guus’s skills can become critical, with the chance depending on his Critical Hit Chance.
- Level 20 – Honkageddon: when Guus deals critical damage, he additionally restores Health and grants a Golden Feather to nearby allies.
- Level 30: while Guus and his allies are affected by a Golden Feather, they take 75 percent less Magic Critical Damage and Pure Critical Damage.
That Level 30 milestone is where things become brutal. In other words, don’t think of Guus in this team as simply the healer standing at the back. Instead, he helps create the environment in which the entire structure operates.
Luther Holds the Front
Next, we put Luther in front of Guus. We’re deliberately keeping the rework details for his dedicated guide, because half an analysis wouldn’t do him justice. Still, if you haven’t tested him in Brawls yet, don’t ignore him — what we’ve seen from him has absolutely caught our attention.
Put simply, Luther gives the team its frontline presence while Guus supports the structure from behind. Combined, the two became even more interesting than either one on his own.
Crow and Tristan Keep the Pressure On
Around the LuGu Core, Crow and Tristan maintain constant pressure. Crow is particularly interesting because of the amount of disruption he creates through Silence. His kit can apply Silence, accelerate his skill recharge, attack enemies under Silence and punish the reapplication of Silence. Moreover, as we recently discussed with his new Talisman, Crow can now be pushed in a much more offensive direction through Physical Attack and Critical Hit Chance.
Tristan, meanwhile, adds his own offensive pressure. So we’re not building a team that just sits there and survives. Luther operates at the front, Guus supports the structure, Crow disrupts the opponent and Tristan keeps hitting — all at the same time.
The Two Luther Guus Brawl Teams Compared
One final position completely changes the flavor of the team. Here’s how the two versions line up side by side:
Version 1: Luther, Yasmine, Crow, Tristan and Guus
With Yasmine, we wanted Critical pressure and Poison. Because Golden Feathers already interact with Critical Hit Chance, she fits naturally into what Guus is trying to create. As a result, this version carries a very dangerous offensive threat while the rest of the team keeps doing its job around her.
That said, don’t just watch Yasmine. Keep your eyes on Luther and Guus, on how long the structure holds and on the Golden Feathers. Pay attention to the pressure building around Luther, to Crow’s Silence and to how the team keeps functioning while Yasmine does her work. Ultimately, that is what convinced us: it isn’t five individually strong Heroes thrown together, because the structure actually makes sense.
Version 2: Luther, Drayne, Crow, Tristan and Guus
Then we changed one Hero: Yasmine out, Drayne in. Suddenly the team feels completely different. Instead of Critical and Poison pressure, Drayne brings his massive AOE, and this version is simply brutal to watch.
Damage now spreads across the entire enemy team, while the same LuGu Core still sits underneath everything. Luther, Guus, Crow and Tristan all stay put — only the weapon changes.
How to Test the LuGu Core Yourself
Experimenting with Luther Guus Brawl Teams like these is exactly what Brawls should be used for. Yes, collect your rewards, of course. Beyond that, though, you have an incredible testing environment available, so make use of it. We didn’t arrive at this team by playing one battle and seeing a big number. Rather, we changed Heroes, tried different opponents and looked at how the structure behaved instead of only checking whether the final screen said Victory or Defeat.
Because only one Hero changes between the two versions, this also makes a really clean comparison. You aren’t replacing three Heroes and then guessing what caused the difference. Here’s the order we’d suggest:
- Start with Luther, Yasmine, Crow, Tristan and Guus, and play several battles before judging it.
- Next, swap Yasmine for Drayne and run the same kind of tests again.
- Finally, compare Yasmine’s concentrated Critical and Poison threat with the massive AOE pressure Drayne brings.
Above everything else, though, keep watching the two Heroes at the center of the experiment. That kind of testing lets you actually understand what each piece contributes.
What These Luther Guus Brawl Teams Are Not
To be clear, we’re not declaring that Luther, Crow, Tristan, Guus and one of these two Heroes form an unbeatable universal team. That’s not how Hero Wars Alliance works. Different opponents create different problems, and outside Brawls your own development, Relics, builds and matchups all matter.
Nevertheless, when we test something repeatedly and it keeps giving us interesting results, we want to show it to you. And this one deserves your attention — especially Luther. Plenty of players will immediately look at Guus because of how much attention he’s been getting lately, from his Relics to his teams to everything Golden Feathers can bring. Even so, don’t let that make Luther invisible, because something very interesting is happening here.
Final Thoughts
After all the testing we’ve done in these Brawls, the Luther and Guus partnership is what impressed us the most. In fact, this is probably our favorite Guus structure from the Brawls so far. Yasmine and Drayne simply gave us two different ways of completing it.
Now it’s your turn. Brawls are active, so you don’t have to take our word for it — go test both versions against different opponents. If you find another Hero who works even better in that flexible slot, let us know. That’s how we learn more and find new teams, and sometimes that’s how a ridiculous experiment ends up becoming the LuGu Core. Remember the name, because judging by what we’ve seen, we’re not finished with these two. As for Luther’s rework? That guide is coming soon.
