Somna Event Shop Guide in Hero Wars Dominion Era

Somna Event Shop Guide

This Somna Event Shop Guide breaks down every single purchase in the Nightmare Abode shop — what to buy, what to skip, and the one simple rule that sorts the entire shop for you. Because two players can clear the exact same event, earn the exact same Sapphire Medallions… and still end up months apart in progression. The difference was never the event. It was the shop.

So before you spend a single Medallion, let’s walk through the framework first. After that, every verdict in this guide will make perfect sense.

The 3,000 Energy Rule

One Sapphire Medallion buys you fifteen Energy Bottles. That’s 3,000 Energy. In other words, every item in this shop has a hidden price tag — not Medallions, but Energy. Items here cost anywhere from one Medallion to six, so the real question is what you’re giving up. Every Medallion an item costs is 3,000 Energy you could have taken instead.

The rule is simple. If farming an item would cost you way more Energy than its Medallion price converts to, buying it from the shop is an absolute win. However, if the farm cost sits around that conversion or below, skip it and farm it instead. Here’s what most players forget — Energy you spend farming isn’t just Energy. During overlapping events, that same farming earns you extra resources on top of the gear itself. The shop can’t match that.

There’s also one more factor in this equation: your raid access. With no raid, every piece of gear costs you real time, mission by mission. Single raid speeds that up, while multi raid changes the math entirely. As a result, the exact same item can be a reasonable farm for one player and a painful time sink for another. Weigh your own raid situation before deciding which side of the line an item falls on.

Somna Event Shop Guide: Resources

Let’s clear out the resource tab first. Two items are automatic buys. Large Skin Stone Chests never change — Skin Stones are one of the most reliable long-term power investments in the game, and twenty chests for one Medallion is simply good business. Great Enchantment Runes tell the same story: fifty for one Medallion, valuable at every stage of the game, easy buy.

Energy Bottles are your benchmark item, and they’re also a perfectly legitimate purchase. If your account is short on Energy sources — meaning you’re not pulling plenty from Hero Tournament of Power or Area of Conquest — Bottles are a solid, flexible pick. On the other hand, if you’re already swimming in alternative Energy sources, spend elsewhere.

Now the skips — and there are a lot of them. Wish Insignias and Wish Crystals are basic ascension resources that you’ll accumulate through normal play, so let the game hand them to you for free. Chaos Particles, Chaos Cores, Flawless Artifact Chests, and Pet Soul Chests all get the same treatment: skip. Sixty Flawless Artifact Chests sounds generous, but artifact resources flow in from plenty of other sources.

Huge Experience Potions deserve a special mention, because this is where Medallions quietly disappear. Skip them. Your core Heroes are max level or close to it, which means you’d be spending premium currency to solve a problem your account doesn’t have. This purchase looks productive — it isn’t. One exception: if you’re an absolutely new player and you urgently need the levels, go for it, but buy only as much as you actually need. Not a Medallion more.

Similarly, the Lesser Soul Stone Chest has one narrow use case. Newer players still building out a roster can justify it. For everyone else, the value collapses once your roster is established — pass.

Violet Gear: Skip It All

Trines, Angel’s Mace, Apostle’s Mace — skip all of them. Run the benchmark and the answer is immediate: violet gear is cheap to farm with regular Energy, so there’s no reason to spend Medallions on it. Just grind these whenever you need them. Violet gear was never the bottleneck, and you shouldn’t let the shop convince you otherwise.

Orange Gear: Where the Shop Pays You

Now watch what happens when we point the benchmark at Orange gear, because this is where the shop actually starts paying you. Alchemist’s Set gives you two for one Medallion, while farming these yourself would burn through far more Energy than that Medallion is worth — a serious discount. Blade of the Immortals at one Medallion follows the same math with the same answer: strong value against the Energy cost.

Lycanthrope’s Fang might be the standout. These are expensive pieces to farm, and here you’re getting five of them for two Medallions — the conversion isn’t close. Throwing Knives run five for two Medallions with the same logic. Meanwhile, Alucard’s Amulet (two for three Medallions) and Ruler’s Globus (three Medallions) are premium Orange pieces where the shop beats the grind whenever they’re blocking a Hero’s progression. Finally, Song of the Valkyries costs four Medallions, and yes, that’s steep — but this piece is brutal to farm. Don’t grind it. If you need it, buy it here.

One Warning Before You Buy

“Better to buy than grind” does not mean “buy all of it.” These are conditional purchases, and the math only works if your Heroes actually need the piece. Buying Orange gear you don’t need isn’t optimization — it’s a warehouse full of value you’ll never use. The rule stays simple: need it? The shop wins. Don’t need it? Walk past it.

Red Gear in the Somna Event Shop Guide

Shadow Queen’s Scythes at one Medallion for a Red piece is fair pricing. Still, ask yourself honestly whether Red gear is what’s stopping your account right now — for most players, it isn’t. Buy only if it’s a genuine, immediate need.

Evening Curfew comes as two pieces for two Medallions — for some reason, the devs bundled these the same way they bundled Angel’s Mace. Honestly, this one doesn’t make the cut. It’s not the worst item in the shop, but your Medallions have better places to go. Quietly skip it and move on.

Insatiable Wing at six Medallions is the conditional one. Not many important Heroes actually need this piece, but the number that do isn’t too low either. So look at your roster. If your Heroes use it, the value is genuinely good against what it takes to obtain otherwise — go for one or two. If nobody on your roster needs it, walk past.

Final Thoughts on the Somna Event Shop Guide

Notice what we just did throughout this Somna Event Shop Guide. We never once asked “does this look good?” Instead, we asked “what does this cost in Energy?” — and suddenly, the entire shop sorted itself. The traps exposed themselves, and the value revealed itself. Skin Stones and Runes: always. Farmable resources and violet gear: never. Orange gear: buy when the Energy math wins and your Heroes actually need it.

That’s the whole system. One number — 3,000 Energy per Medallion — and every purchase in the Somna shop either beats that conversion or it doesn’t. Because in Dominion, resource management wins far more battles than raw power ever will.
