Wodryn First Look | Hero Wars Alliance

Wodryn First Look

This Wodryn First Look breaks down everything we know so far about the brand-new Nature Tank arriving with the Mighty Roots Season in Hero Wars Alliance. Unlike a typical frontline hero, Wodryn can cleanse his allies, turn incoming hits into extra Energy, boost Critical Hit Chance, and then use that same Critical Hit Chance to help protect his entire team.

That’s an unusual combination for a Tank. So, now that we’ve had an early look at his skills and development requirements, let’s dig into how his abilities actually work and why this hero deserves your attention before he lands.

Wodryn First Look: A Different Kind of Nature Tank

Wodryn is a Strength-based frontline Tank from the Nature faction. However, he isn’t built purely around soaking damage. Instead, his kit supports both his own performance and the heroes fighting behind him, which gives him a surprisingly flexible role on the battlefield.

Start Preparing His Rank Equipment

Before diving into the skills, it’s worth thinking about his development. Wodryn will need specific Rank equipment as you progress through his upgrades, so if you’re planning to build him, now is a great time to start gathering those items. That way, you won’t be scrambling for gear once he goes live.

Wodryn’s Skills Explained

Crown of Wrath (Ultimate)

His Ultimate immediately shows that Wodryn is more than a damage sponge. Crown of Wrath summons a powerful crown above the enemy team, dealing Physical Damage every second for six seconds to all enemies underneath it. On top of that, the damage scales with his Physical Attack.

Most importantly, these attacks cannot be evaded. As a result, Wodryn adds offensive pressure across the whole enemy formation with an Ultimate that opponents can’t simply dodge, which is something you rarely see from a Tank.

Bark Renewal

His second skill is where his real identity starts to show. Bark Renewal removes all Debuffs and Control effects from Wodryn and the allies positioned behind him, then heals him. His healing also scales with Physical Attack.

Because of that cleanse, he could be especially interesting against teams that rely on control effects to disrupt their opponents.

There’s a second part to this ability, though, and it’s essential to understanding him. Every negative effect removed grants Wodryn a layer of Oak Bark, and he’s guaranteed at least one layer whenever the skill activates. While Oak Bark is active, he gains additional Energy whenever he takes damage.

Think about that for a moment. As a frontline Tank, he’s going to take plenty of hits, and those hits feed his Energy, potentially letting him fire off Crown of Wrath more often. Beyond Energy, Oak Bark is also the foundation for one of his most exciting abilities.

Deepwood Might

Here’s where things get really interesting. Deepwood Might consumes two layers of Oak Bark to increase the Critical Hit Chance of the allies behind Wodryn for nine seconds. The bonus scales with his Physical Attack and is calculated for each Oak Bark layer consumed.

In addition, every layer consumed raises Wodryn’s own Critical Hit Chance until the end of the battle, again scaling with Physical Attack. In other words, his allies get a temporary offensive boost while he steadily grows stronger as the fight goes on.

Naturally, that opens up some fun possibilities with heroes who benefit from Critical Hits. Still, Wodryn’s Critical Hit Chance isn’t only about dealing damage, and his fourth skill shows exactly why.

Unbowed Oak

Unbowed Oak gives Wodryn and the allies positioned behind him a chance to take reduced damage. Crucially, the chance of this protection activating depends on each hero’s individual Critical Hit Chance. At maximum skill level, the damage reduction reaches 67% when the effect triggers.

That’s a significant reduction. However, it isn’t permanent protection. Since it’s a chance-based effect tied to each hero’s own Critical Hit Chance, we can’t assume it will trigger constantly.

How Wodryn’s Abilities Feed Into Each Other

Now let’s connect everything from this Wodryn First Look. Taken one at a time, each skill is solid; together, though, they form a clear loop.

Step Skill / Effect What It Does
1 Bark Renewal Cleanses Debuffs and Control from himself and allies behind him, heals him, and grants Oak Bark
2 Oak Bark Gives extra Energy whenever Wodryn takes damage
3 Deepwood Might Consumes Oak Bark to raise allies’ Crit Chance for 9 seconds and his own Crit Chance for the rest of the battle
4 Unbowed Oak Each hero’s Crit Chance sets their chance to take up to 67% reduced damage

In short, the developers have built a Tank whose abilities feed into one another. He cleanses, generates Energy, and supports Critical Hits, while that same Critical Hit Chance boosts his team’s defensive potential. That synergy is exactly what makes him so fascinating.

Will Wodryn Be the Strongest Tank in Hero Wars Alliance?

Of course, none of this automatically makes him the best Tank in the game. We still need to see how reliably these effects activate, how well he survives against different opponents, and which heroes can take the greatest advantage of his mechanics.

For now, this first look focuses on his abilities and Rank requirements. His Artifacts, Glyphs, Talisman, and full development priorities deserve their own proper analysis, so we’ll cover those in our dedicated Wodryn Guide.

Once Wodryn arrives, the real testing begins. We’ll build him, explore his performance at maximum development, find his strongest partners, identify his counters, and try out different team compositions, including Nature combinations, physical-damage teams, anti-Mage setups, and anything else his kit might open up.

Final Thoughts on Wodryn

A Nature Tank who can cleanse his team, generate extra Energy, support Critical Hits, and potentially turn those Crits into extra protection? That’s definitely a hero worth watching, and our Wodryn First Look leaves plenty of reasons to be excited. With the Mighty Roots Season just around the corner, Dominion is about to become a very interesting place.

So, which of Wodryn’s abilities caught your attention the most? Do you think his cleansing will be his greatest strength, or could the link between Critical Hit Chance and damage reduction become the real surprise? Let us know which heroes you’d like us to test alongside him!
