Orion Talisman Guide | Hero Wars Alliance
Greetings, Guardians! This is Olympus Alliance, and welcome back to another episode of our Progress Talisman Series. In this Orion Talisman Guide we continue our journey through the engineers of Hero Wars as we answer one important question: which Talisman is best for Orion?
If you’ve missed our previous episodes, make sure to check them out, because we’ve already covered multiple heroes from other factions and we’re steadily working our way through every Progress hero as well. Talismans remain one of the most powerful tools available to players. Unlike skins, glyphs, artifacts and other resources that become permanently fixed once upgraded, Talismans let us adapt our heroes from fight to fight, and that flexibility can completely change the outcome of a battle.
Sometimes a different Talisman creates a stronger hero. Other times it creates a better matchup. In certain cases it completely changes how a hero performs inside a specific team composition. That’s why understanding Talismans is so important. So today, Guardians, let’s talk about Orion.
Why Orion Is Different
Orion is one of the most unique Progress heroes in the game. While most Progress heroes focus on physical damage, Orion walks a very different path. He’s a mage. A support. And a secondary damage dealer all rolled into one.
While he isn’t commonly seen on defensive teams these days, Orion remains extremely dangerous on offense thanks to one thing above all else: Magic Penetration. His ability to constantly provide Magic Penetration to his allies allows some of the strongest magic damage dealers in Hero Wars to become even more devastating. That support value alone keeps Orion relevant.
Orion’s Two Talisman Options
The first option is the Talisman of Galaxy. This was originally available during one of the early Talisman Fever events and provides Intelligence as its primary stat and Armor as its secondary rerollable stat. At first glance, Guardians, this combination feels a little unusual. Intelligence certainly helps Orion because all three of his primary abilities scale with Magic Attack, and Intelligence contributes toward that. Armor, however, has always felt somewhat awkward here. It’s not a terrible stat, but it doesn’t particularly strengthen Orion’s main purpose.
Then we have his second option, the Talisman of Alien. This one immediately feels much more interesting. The Talisman of Alien provides Toughness as its primary stat and Magic Attack as its secondary stat. And Guardians, this combination feels far more aligned with what Orion actually wants to do.
| Talisman | Primary Stat | Secondary Stat |
|---|---|---|
| Talisman of Galaxy | Intelligence | Armor (rerollable) |
| Talisman of Alien | Toughness | Magic Attack |
How This Orion Talisman Guide Evaluates Each Option
Before making any final recommendation, let’s apply the same method we use for every hero in this series. We always evaluate two major factors. First: how do the Talisman stats interact with the hero’s skills? Second: how do the Talisman stats support the role that hero performs within a team?
Talisman Stats vs Orion’s Skills
Let’s begin with Orion’s skills. When examining his abilities, the first three skills all contain Magic Attack scaling. That means Magic Attack directly improves a large portion of Orion’s kit. This is where the difference between the two Talismans becomes extremely noticeable.
The Talisman of Alien provides approximately fifteen thousand Magic Attack. Meanwhile the Talisman of Galaxy contributes significantly less through its Intelligence stat. As a result, Alien simply delivers more offensive value. More Magic Attack means stronger abilities, stronger support output, and stronger secondary damage. When purely evaluating skill scaling, Alien clearly gains the advantage.
Talisman Stats vs Orion’s Role
Now let’s consider Orion’s role. And Guardians, this is where things become even more interesting. Despite having respectable damage, Orion is not typically the primary damage dealer on a team. That’s not why we bring him. We bring him because of what he provides to everyone around him: his Magic Penetration support, his constant energy generation, and his ability to empower magical teammates.
We need Orion alive. He has to keep casting skills. Above all, he needs to keep supporting the real damage dealers. Viewed from that perspective, Toughness becomes extremely attractive. Armor only helps against physical damage. Toughness, on the other hand, helps against everything: physical damage, magic damage, and pure damage. It improves Orion’s overall survivability regardless of what kind of team he’s facing.
That makes a significant difference. A dead Orion provides no Magic Penetration. He offers no support. Ultimately, he delivers no value at all. So when we combine the additional Magic Attack with the broader defensive benefits of Toughness, the Talisman of Alien begins pulling even further ahead. The result is a Talisman that strengthens both of the things Orion cares about most: his effectiveness and his survivability.
Orion Talisman Guide: Our Final Verdict
Which brings us to our recommendation. For us, the answer is clear. The Talisman of Alien is the superior choice. It provides more meaningful offensive value. The overall defensive value is better too. On top of that, it supports Orion’s role within a team far more effectively.
One Final Consideration
There is one final consideration worth mentioning. The Talisman of Galaxy is currently available through the Eternal Frontier Merchant for seven hundred thousand coins whenever it rotates into the shop. And Guardians, while we don’t consider it Orion’s best option, that doesn’t mean it’s useless. If Alien is unavailable and you’re actively building Orion, Galaxy can still provide useful stats while you wait. Some additional Intelligence is certainly better than having no Talisman at all. But if your goal is maximizing Orion’s performance, the Talisman of Alien remains the one we would recommend every single time.
So Guardians, do you agree with our assessment? Have you tested both Talismans? Do you prefer the additional Intelligence and Armor from Galaxy, or the Toughness and Magic Attack combination from Alien? Let us know down below. And while you’re there, tell us which Progress hero you’d like us to cover next in this series.
