Eva Event Mistakes | Hero Wars Dominion Era
Most Eva event mistakes come from one simple habit: playing Freedom Protocol exactly like Astrid and Lucas or Somna. However, this is the first new hero event on the updated format, and a lot has changed under the hood. Some of those changes are obvious, but most aren’t, and a few of the resulting errors can’t be undone once you’ve made them.
So in this guide, we break down the three biggest Eva event mistakes players are making, what changed from the last event, and how to avoid getting burned. On top of that, we’ve added two bonus mistakes at the end that quietly drain your valor coins and your wallet.
Mistake #1: Assuming the Chapters Work Like Last Time
Let’s start with the one that catches almost everyone. In the Astrid and Lucas event, you had seven chapters, and the first two were free. In fact, chapter two didn’t need a single energy crystal, yet it still handed you 30 skin stones, 20,000 valor coins and 2 sapphire medallions just for showing up.
That free chapter is gone. Eva’s event has six regular chapters, and chapter two now needs the Amulet at level 5, which costs 50 energy crystals. As a result, everything after it has shifted down by one. The crystal costs themselves haven’t changed (50, 160, 320, 530 and 790), but they now unlock chapters two through six instead of three through seven.
So what does that shift actually cost you? Previously, chapter rewards added up to 220,000 valor coins and 37 medallions. Now the total is 200,000 valor and 35 medallions, and the free skin stones are gone completely. It isn’t a huge loss, but if you planned your spins around last event’s numbers, your math is off before you even start. Therefore, redo your plan with the new numbers instead of copying last month’s.
Mistake #2: Free Players Chasing Chapters Five and Six
This is one of the most expensive Eva event mistakes for free-to-play accounts. Players grind hard, buy everything they can with emeralds, and then stall halfway between chapters with nothing to show for it.
Here’s the reality. The totem has moved to chapter six, and that chapter requires the Amulet at level 25, which means 790 energy crystals. Without spending real money, you simply won’t reach it.
Chapter four, on the other hand, is well within reach. You can get there as a free player without spending any emeralds at all. Chapter five is possible too, but only if you spend emeralds and also have other sources of energy crystals, and that gets costly fast. Before you commit to that push, run your numbers through the Eva Event Optimizer to see whether it’s actually worth it for your account.
For that reason, free-to-play players should set chapter four as the target from day one. It pays out 20 hero resource chests, 50,000 valor and 10 medallions, and by the time you clear it you’ll have collected six abyssal seals. Meanwhile, any crystals you pour into a chapter you can’t finish are crystals that could have gone into your other relics instead.
Mistake #3: Burning Your Abyssal Seals
Which brings us to the new currency, and the mistake that hurts the most. Abyssal seals are brand new in this event. You earn them from the regular chapters: 1 seal each from chapters one and two, then 2 seals each from chapters three through six, for 10 seals in total.
After that, you spend them in the three Abyss chapters, which appear as chapters seven, eight and nine.
Keep in mind that the level 25 Amulet is the same one that opens chapter six, so a free player can’t reach Abyss chapter three at all. For F2P accounts, Abyss chapter two is the realistic ceiling.
Now read this part twice, because it’s the one people miss. Seals are spent every time you attempt the fight; they aren’t a one-time unlock. On top of that, only your single best score counts for the ranking. In other words, it doesn’t matter how many times you fight, only how good your one best run is.
So what actually happens? Players unlock chapter eight, throw in a team they’ve never tested, get a mediocre score and lose 2 seals. Then they do it again. After six seals, they’re left with three weak runs and nothing to spend.
Use Chapter Seven as Your Testing Ground
Attempts in chapter seven are free and unlimited, so treat it as your practice arena. Try your team, your talismans and your pet (our guide to the best pet for Eva is a good starting point), and lock in your best setup before you spend a single seal. That way, when you finally step into chapter eight or nine, you already know your team works.
Also, if you’re a spender who can reach Amulet level 25, hold your seals for chapter nine. Its 100% bonus damage is double chapter eight’s, and because only your best run counts, a chapter nine score will usually replace anything you did in chapter eight. In short, seals spent early on chapter eight are just gone.
Bonus Mistake #1: Spinning the Altar Before Building Your Relics
Every spin at the Altar of Fate costs 2,700 valor coins at base, and the altar is the only place to get Eva’s soul stones. The event shop doesn’t sell them (our Eva event shop guide covers what it does offer). Since Eva needs 30 soul stones just to unlock and 630 to be fully maxed, this is where most of your valor ends up.
That’s why the order matters so much. First, upgrade the Tome of Greed, which gives you valor coins whenever you spend energy on relics or exchanges. It maxes out at level 15 for 840 crystals, and once it’s levelled, every crystal you spend on the other relics pays you back extra. Next, build up the Grail of Generosity before your big spin session, since it lowers the cost of every spin. Otherwise, if you spin first and upgrade later, you’ve paid full price for coins you could have saved.
It also helps to know that the altar has bad luck protection on sapphire medallions. Specifically, it kicks in at 2, 4 and 8 spins, then every 15 spins after that. So even on an unlucky streak, a planned spin session still gets you medallions alongside your soul stones.
Bonus Mistake #2: Buying the Battle Pass Without Doing the Math
Eva’s Path costs $29.99, and here’s how its two tracks compare:
That doesn’t make the pass a bad buy. For a small spender, those 150 crystals could be exactly what closes the gap to chapter six, the totem and the Abyss chapter three unlock. However, it’s worth checking where the pass actually gets you before you pay for it, and the Eva Event Optimizer makes that easy.
Quick Recap: Avoiding the Eva Event Mistakes
To sum up, most Eva event mistakes come down to planning with outdated numbers. Know your chapter target from day one, don’t assume the old free chapter is still there, and test on chapter seven before you spend a single seal. Beyond that, build the Tome of Greed and Grail of Generosity before you spin, and check the math before buying Eva’s Path.
