Guus Relics Build Guide | Hero Wars Alliance

Guus Relics Build Guide

This Guus Relics build guide answers the question that matters most once the new Relics land in Hero Wars Alliance: how far should you actually develop them? We already know Guus’ Relics are good. However, Level 1, Level 10, Level 20 and Level 30 are four very different investments, and after testing every stage, we don’t believe everyone needs to push Guus all the way to Level 30.

Instead, the right stopping point depends on your budget and, more importantly, on what you are actually fighting. Below, we walk through each Relic level, what it unlocks, how it performed in our tests, and where we would personally stop.

How We Tested Guus’ Relics

For these tests, we mainly used two teams. To be clear, neither one was meant to be a perfect synergy composition. That was never the purpose. Rather, we wanted teams where we could clearly see what Guus himself was doing and how his Relics interacted with different Heroes.

Test Team Heroes Why We Used It
Team 1 Tristan, Yasmine, Drayne, Crow, Guus Crow’s Silence helps against Magic teams; Tristan and Yasmine bring physical and Critical Hit interactions
Team 2 Julius, Tristan, Yasmine, Crow, Guus Julius replaces Drayne for an extra defensive layer and a way to shut down negative effects when his Shield is applied

We then ran both teams at each Guus Relic level against the threats that actually matter right now: Kendle and Cleaver Pure Damage teams, Iris and Tempus damage-over-time teams, and Magic Critical Damage compositions.

Before getting into the results, a confession: we love Guus. Even before Relics, his kit was incredibly impressive. He turns Critical Hit interactions into healing, distributes Golden Feathers, protects Heroes in dangerous moments and keeps a whole team alive. So the question was never whether Relics make a bad Hero good. Guus was already good. The real question was how much each level changes him.

Level 1: Featherhood

At Level 1, Guus unlocks Featherhood. Every 11 seconds, he grants a Golden Feather to himself and to the ally with the highest Health stat. Because so much of his kit revolves around Golden Feathers, this is obviously useful, since more Feathers mean more chances to trigger the mechanics he already does so well.

Still, did Level 1 fundamentally change Guus in our testing? No. It improved him, but it didn’t transform him.

  • Against Kendle and Cleaver: the fight stayed very difficult. A Level 1 Relic does not stop that enormous Critical Pure Damage pressure.
  • Against Iris and Tempus: Guus was already extremely useful here before Relics, so Level 1 helped without creating a different Hero.
  • Against Magic Critical Damage: particularly with Team 1, the losses were still there.

In short, Level 1 is good. It is an extra Golden Feather and a natural extension of what Guus already does. For us, though, it isn’t yet the breakpoint that changes the conversation. That happens at Level 10.

Level 10: Legendary Beak Peak and Critical Healing

At Legendary Relic Level 10, Beak Peak becomes Legendary and introduces something completely new: Critical Healing. This is a mechanic you really need to pay attention to.

First, remember what Beak Peak already does. If an ally carrying a Golden Feather is about to fall below 25% Health, Guus steps in before that happens and partially restores their Health. That moment is huge. Normally, a Hero dropping under 25% is one major hit away from leaving the battle, and Guus was already able to protect it.

Now, with the Level 10 Relic, healing from Guus’ skills can become Critical Healing. Critical Healing restores 200% healing, and the chance depends on Guus’ Critical Hit Chance. For a Hero whose entire identity is keeping allies alive through Golden Feathers, that is a big addition.

Keep in mind that the ally still needs an active Golden Feather for Beak Peak’s emergency protection to trigger. Fortunately, Guus already has several ways of handing those out. In other words, Level 10 doesn’t replace his existing system; it makes that system considerably stronger.

Did Level 10 suddenly let us beat every maxed team in testing? No, and context matters here. We deliberately tested against fully developed teams with max Relics so we could push these skills hard enough to see both their potential and their limits. Even so, the underlying improvement was clearly there.

That is why, on a lower budget, Level 10 is our first serious recommendation. You get Featherhood’s extra Feather at Level 1 and then Critical Healing at Level 10, all without committing to the much bigger cost of going through the entire Relic system.

Level 20: Legendary Honkageddon

If your budget allows you to go further, Level 20 changes things again. In fact, this is where our tests started showing a much more meaningful impact.

At Level 20, Honkageddon becomes Legendary. Guus already has an unusual relationship with Critical Hits, because his kit converts those interactions into healing and Golden Feather generation rather than raw damage. With the Legendary upgrade, whenever Guus deals Critical Damage, he additionally restores Health and grants a Golden Feather to nearby allies.

This is where the engine becomes much more complete. Guus can produce a lot of Critical interactions. That doesn’t make him your big damage dealer, which was never his job. Instead, those Crits now feed directly into what we want from him: keeping people alive, generating Feathers, healing, and keeping the whole cycle moving.

In our testing, the extra healing became far more noticeable at this stage. Even Team 1, which we deliberately didn’t build around perfect synergy, improved significantly against the Iris and Tempus composition. Similarly, we saw a substantial improvement against Magic Critical Damage teams such as those built around Folio.

So here is how we see the progression. Level 1 enhances Guus. Next, Level 10 gives him an important new healing mechanic. Finally, Level 20 pulls the different pieces together into a much stronger healing and Golden Feather engine. If Guus is a key Hero on your account and your Relic budget is healthier, Level 20 is a very attractive place to stop.

Level 30: No Honk, No Gain

Every Relic set has that one point where you look at the whole design and think, “Okay, now I understand why they made this.” For Guus, that point is Level 30.

With No Honk, No Gain, while Guus and his allies are affected by a Golden Feather, they take 75% less Magic Critical Damage and Pure Critical Damage. Seventy-five percent is enormous.

That said, please read the mechanic correctly. This is damage reduction, not damage elimination. On top of that, the Pure Damage part specifically applies to Pure Critical Damage, and that distinction matters because of Kendle.

Why Pure Critical Damage Matters: The Kendle Problem

We have already covered why Kendle compositions became so dangerous. Her Purge by Pain Legendary upgrade lets her allies’ Pure Damage become critical. Critical Pure Damage reaches 200%, with the chance depending on Magical Critical Hit Chance.

As a result, a Hero like Cleaver, who already deals Pure Damage, can have that damage turned into Critical Pure Damage through Kendle. Cleaver is only one example, which is exactly why some of these Kendle Pure Damage teams became so wild.

Now Guus has an answer aimed squarely at that damage type. If the Hero holds a Golden Feather, they get 75% Pure Critical Damage reduction. This is where our tests against Kendle teams became especially important, because Level 1 didn’t solve that problem and Level 10 wasn’t designed to. Level 20 makes Guus much better at what he already does, whereas Level 30 gives him a defensive tool built specifically for Critical Pure Damage.

Level 30 also cuts Magic Critical Damage by 75%, which is obviously powerful. We view that half a little differently, though. Magic Critical Damage has other possible answers through team building; for example, Tristan and Crow can use Silence to disrupt Magic Damage during parts of the battle. It doesn’t remove Magic Crits permanently, but it does give you tools to interfere. Critical Pure Damage, by contrast, has been a much harder problem, and that is what makes Level 30 so interesting.

Do You Actually Need Level 30?

This is the most important part of the whole guide. Don’t see “75%” and immediately decide you need Level 30. Instead, look at your account, your wars, Arena and Grand Arena, and ask what you are really fighting.

  • Are you regularly facing highly developed Kendle teams?
  • Does that Kendle have the Relic levels needed to create the Critical Pure Damage threat?
  • Are those teams genuinely causing you problems?

If the answer is yes, Level 30 becomes an extremely important target. For players who keep running into developed Kendle Critical Pure Damage teams, we consider it worth serious investment and potentially a must-have.

On the other hand, if that isn’t your environment, ask whether spending all those extra Relic resources is necessary right now. If the Kendle you face isn’t developed enough to produce Critical Pure Damage, there is little reason to build Guus specifically to counter it. You aren’t building Level 30 to stop a blue Kendle without the mechanic; you build it because developed Relics and dangerous skills justify the counter.

Guus Relics Build Guide: Where to Stop

After all our testing, the stopping points in this Guus Relics build guide are actually quite simple.

Relic Level What It Unlocks Our Verdict
Level 1 Featherhood: Golden Feather to Guus and the highest-Health ally every 11 seconds Nice upgrade, not a breakpoint
Level 10 Legendary Beak Peak: Critical Healing (200%) based on Crit Hit Chance Best stopping point on a lower budget
Level 20 Legendary Honkageddon: Critical Damage restores Health and grants Feathers to nearby allies Preferred middle ground for a stronger investment
Level 30 No Honk, No Gain: 75% less Magic and Pure Critical Damage while holding a Golden Feather Specialist pick for developed Kendle or heavy Magic Crit matchups

To sum up, aim for Level 10 on a lower budget, Level 20 for a stronger and more complete Guus, and Level 30 when the enemies you face justify the investment. Above all, don’t spend resources just because Level 30 exists. Build according to the battles you actually need to win.

One final thought: these Relics don’t reinvent Guus, and honestly, that is what we like about them. They take an already excellent, very distinctive Hero and sharpen everything that defines him, from extra Golden Feathers and Critical Healing to stronger healing loops, more protection, and finally an answer to Kendle’s dangerous new damage mechanic. Guus was already a machine. Now you just have to decide how powerful you need that machine to become.
